One Horse, One Jockey And One Trainer To Follow On The First Day At York

Jockey - Frankie Dettori

Frankie Dettori is one of the best flat jockeys in the world and has been at the top of his game for some time now and with this Dante meeting right around the corner he will be looking forward, hopefully to another good three days of racing.

York is a track that has been kind to the Italian rider, especially last season having seven winners from 21 rides equalling out at a 33 per cent strike-rate. This meant that from a £1 level stakes he would have earned you +£15.70 at York last year.

Dettori won the top course rider title in the process and will be hoping to do the same this year and has every chance with some great rides booked mostly for trainer John Gosden.

Sparkle Roll is a stand out ride for the experienced jockey in the Group 3 Musidora stakes and this could set up a great few days for the well liked rider.

Trainer - Richard Fahey

The trainer we think on the first day of the meeting and for the whole festival who could gain some nice winners is Richard Fahey.

The Irish handler is based just down the road for the York track and has more runners at the track than any other yard over the last three years.

In two of those years he has managed to come away with the achievement of being the top course trainer and with that in mind has a great chance to make a good start to that at the Dante meeting on the first day.

Fahey and his horses returned a £24 profit to £1 level stakes at the course last year, which bodes well with his runners this year.

He has many live chances on the first day and is certainly a trainer to watch out for over the three days.

Horse - Sparkle Roll

Finally the horse to follow on day one that will be tough to beat is the John Gosden Sparkle Roll and she made a cracking start to the season with a victory at Sandown in a Fillies Novice event, and rightfully steps up into a Group field with the Oaks in mind.

Two lengths to King Power under SDS in Esher approximately three weeks ago looked a very taking performance, backing up her convincing win in September at Haydock.

Looks a very strong contender that stays out really well when called upon for effort, and the further for her right now the better.
