N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: N/A
Days: 58

James Ferguson has one runner in this year’s Feilden Stakes with Canberra Legend making his Newmarket debut on his second career appearance. He was backed into 8/11 favourite on debut at Newcastle back in February and justified that with a three and a half length victory over Carbis Bay.

Jumps up to better company now which provides a bigger challenge but there should be more to come from the three-year-old. Not dismissed but others have more experience at a higher level.

Rossa Ryan

Captain Wierzba

J: Rossa Ryan
T: Ralph Beckett
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 102
Days: 179

Three-year-old for Ralph Beckett who has had an indifferent start to life on the flat, winning a class five at Ffos Las in August last year after finishing second on debut at Windsor but has since unseated at Saint-Cloud and finished sixth in Group One Vertem Futurity Trophy Stakes at Doncaster last October.

That was a tougher race, but he didn’t really figure so has to do better in listed company here. Looks another tough ask, however, against some rivals in better form.

Richard Kingscote

Killybegs Warrior

J: Richard Kingscote
T: Charlie Johnston
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 100
Days: 18

Charlie Johnston’s sole runner in this race is Killybegs Warrior, who has had the most runs of any runner in this contest, with seven. He has won two of those, here at Newmarket twice over 7f but in recent times has struggled somewhat, finishing outside the top two on every occasion after that second Newmarket win including fifth in Group Three Autumn Stakes in October.

Another tough ask here for the three-year-old but third in Chelmsford City class two last time out earlier this month behind Brave Emperor and Bold Act was a bit more encouraging. Others preferred.

William Buick

Bold Act

J: William Buick
T: Charlie Appleby
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 103
Days: 18

Charlie Appleby sends two for this contest in the shape of Regal Honour and Bold Act. Bold Act has made an impressive start to life on the flat after finishing second on debut here in July last year over 7f, winning on all three occasions since. His last three wins have come at this trip and has been upped in class again from class two last time out.

Won on his return to racing last time out at Chelmsford City and should be close again here for a top yard. It would be surprising if he was to finish outside of the top three at least.

Marco Ghiani

Blanchland

J: Marco Ghiani
T: Jane Chapple-Hyam
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 108
Days: 193

Talented colt for Jane Chapple-Hyam who returns after 193 days off the track, following his second-place finish in the 1m 2f Group Three Zetland Stakes here in October, finishing a length behind Charlie Appleby’s Flying Honours. His only victory came at Newcastle in September, winning class two maiden over 1m, two lengths to The Goat and arrives here as a big player.

Should be better for that grouped experience, which is something that most of these don’t possess. Can be bang in the mix for victory.

Galactic Jack

J: Oisin Murphy
T: Andrew Balding
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 88
Days: 193

Andrew Balding’s sole runner in this contest is Galactic Jack, who has had three career runs on the flat at Goodwood (twice) and here at Newmarket. He was third on debut at Goodwood over 1m before stepping up to class two level and landing a one-length victory. Upped in class again last time out in Zetland Stakes, finishing sixth behind the likes of fellow runner Blanchland.

Others are preferred here as they are in better form than this colt.

David Egan

Kolsai

J: David Egan
T: Roger Varian
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: N/A
Days: 208

Roger Varian sends one for this contest in the form of Kolsai, who has had two runs in his career on the flat so far. Second on debut at Leicester was followed by a half a length win in 7f class four maiden stakes contest here in September last year. He was ahead of fellow runner Regal Honour that day.

Like many others declared for this race, he steps up in both class and trip but there should be much more to come from this lightly raced colt. Varian and jockey David Egan won this last year with Eydon. Not dismissed but as mentioned, this is tougher.

James Doyle

Regal Honour

J: James Doyle
T: Charlie Appleby
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: N/A
Days: 182

Charlie Appleby sends a couple of runners to this race in the form of Bold Act and Regal Honour. The latter Regal Honour has had a couple of runs in his flat career, winning his last race over seven furlongs here back in October, beating Greek Order by a neck at 5/6fav. That was after a decent third on debut here in September in class four maiden stakes over 7f and he now makes the step up to 1m 1f.

William Buick rides Bold Act so James Doyle does the steering on this colt, who should be in the running towards the end of the race if taking to the trip.

Hollie Doyle

Intinso

J: Hollie Doyle
T: John & Thady Gosden
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: N/A
Days: 177

John & Thady Gosden send one for the Listed Feilden Stakes over 1m 1f in the form of three-year-old Intinso. The colt has had just the one run in his career so far, scoring on debut at Newcastle back in October in class five novice stakes over 1m. The 1/2fav held off Alumnus by just over three lengths, running on strongly to claim victory on his first start.

This is a tougher ask upped in class, but he could make it two out of two for a top yard here. Currently sits at the top of the market and this stable have won this race three times in the last eight years.
