Kempton Saturday Preview 23/02/19

13:15 - Erick Le Rouge

The first race of the day at Kempton comes in the Class 3 Handicap Hurdle over 2 mile 5 furlongs and we have gone for the Jane Williams trained Erick Le Rouge

This five year old has been a really consistent performer so far this term winning all his three runs in really good style and last time out stepping up to Class 3 company for the first time this year.

Dropping down in trip is not a problem and he has course form and has a handy seven pound claimer on board to help with being top weight.

13:50 - Secret Investor

The next race on Saturday at Kempton comes in the first Grade 2 of the day over 2 mile 4 1/2 furlongs in the Pendil Novices Chase and we have chosen the Paul Nicholls trained Secret Investor.

This seven year old has been very consistent in these hot small runner fields and winning a Grade 2 and finishing well in behind some good horses.

He does need to reverse the form form the last time he raced against Bags Groove but now getting five pounds from the favourite he has a real chance on good ground.

14:25 - Giving Glances

The third race of the day comes in the Grade 2 Juvenile Hurdle over 2 miles and in this contest full of youngsters we have gone for Giving Glances to land the spoils.

This Alan King trained four year old comes into this contest with leading form claims after winning two of his three races since taking to hurdling.

His last start was in Listed company where he showed how gritty and determined he can be to grind out the victory and show how progressive he could be. If improving again on Saturday he has a real chance of landing this race.

15:00 - Angels Breath

The next tip of the day comes in arguably the feature of the Grade 2 contests, the Dovecote Novices Hurdle over 2 miles and the Nicky Henderson trained Supreme Novices Hurdle fancy Angel Breath is our selection.

This potential superstar joined the seven barrows yard at the start of this campaign and on his only run in a Grade 2 on debut he shaped like a really nice gelding, going on to land the spoils.

Henderson has been upbeat about this horse all season and was supposed to run the Thursday of the equine flu outbreak. If dealing with the time off the track and the recent flu jab he will be hard to beat.

15:35 - Glen Rocco

The Grade 3 Handicap Chase see's a lot of quality staying horses on offer but the one we fancy in the three mile contest is Glen Rocco for owner Jeremy Kyle.

This eight year old is one of his trainers Nick Gifford's stable stars after showing how good a jumper over the bigger obstacle he has been this season with the Grand National the final goal.

His latest outing was the most impressive over course and distance, emphatically beating the field in a Class 2 Handicap and even though this is a step up he is the one to beat.

16:10 - Bandsman

The penultimate race of the afternoon from Kempton see's the Class 3 Handicap Chase over 2 mile 4 1/2 furlongs and we have gone for the Dan Skelton trained Bandsman.

This eight year old has been ultra consistent this season not finishing outside the top three on all four occasions and has course and distance form at this track.

He returns here from a small lay off where back in spring he landed a nice race here and then his last outing was a good second at Uttoxeter in a Class 2.

16:45 - Dog Of War

The final race of the day from Kempton see's the National Hunt Flat race over 2 miles and we have gone for the bigger priced Dog Of War for trainer Dan Skelton.

This five year old is having his debut today after it was supposed to last month but was pulled out due to the ground but he was strongly backed before being withdrew that day.

Skelton is a trainer that is decent with his horses on debut and we are hoping for the same again on Saturday.
