Leading Irish Raider for the Grade 3 Ladbrokes on Trophy on Saturday at Newbury has had to be declared a non runner by his trainer Willie Mullins after it was announced on Thursday that he will not be running in the race due to adverse weather causing travel problems.

The Mullins six year old was scheduled to be one of the favourites for the 3 miles 2 furlongs contest after his seasonal reappearance was a strong one, going on to defeat four other rivals in the Grade 2 Clonmel Oil Chase.

Today he was officially declared he would not be taking part in the £250,000 race that his trainer won last year with Total Recall and it now means that the field for the Ladbrokes Trophy is down to 13 runners. This see's the contest have the smallest field since the beginning of this century.

The new market leaders are Elegant Escape for Colin Tizzard who won the Listed Future Stars intermediate Chase on his seasonal debut at Sandown just pipping the Tom Lacey trained Thomas Patrick who is also joint favourite at 4/1 in the betting.
