ITV Racing Tips for Today - Monday 6th April

It's Irish Grand National Day on Monday the 6th of April with cards from Fairyhouse, Plumpton and Kempton hosting competitive handicaps. With ten races on ITV to pick through, we've assessed all the live contests to offer our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Secret Des Dieux 5/2

Is in terrific form of late and looks like he has a strong chance of landing the hat-trick here. Form has been franked from last run so deserves his chance upped in Class and is the one to beat once more. J J Burke booked to ride and that looks a positive move seeing he has a rock solid 25% strike rate when riding for this trainer.

Gethin 15/8

Made an impressive start to life last season and was one horse on the Flat to keep a very close eye on and this looks more than winnable on what will be his seasonal reappearance. Has won when fresh in the past and remains with plenty of potential as a 4 year old. Trainer also has an eye-catching 31.58% strike rate with horses that return after 150+ days off in the month of April.

Jony R 16/1

Has won on this sort of ground in the past and should be showing better down in Class here. James Bowen certainly an eye-catching jockey booking.

Incensed 12/1

Has ran with credit in the past when going fresh so no major doubts about the 194 day absence here. Is unbeaten over this course and distance in three starts and simply looks too big of a price. Could well bounce back to form returning to this track.

Kawaboomga 5/2

Willie Mullins runs three in this race but we've opted for this lightly races sort who may be up to plenty more improvement after an encouraging run last time out. This sort of ground should suit more compared to his last run which was in a bog. Also more improvement to come upped in trip so looks the one to beat.

Mercury Day 7/1

Won after a similar length break on first start for new yard two years ago so clearly goes well fresh and looks a nice price today. 79 looks a lenient mark on her return to A/W racing.

Energumene 10/3

This legend of a horse loves winning on this sort of ground and dropping into Grade 2 company here is more his level nowadays. Positive to see that Paul Townend has chosen to ride seeing Mullins has three in this.

Helm Rock 4/1

Was very narrowly beaten on last start and although this stall is not exactly ideal, if he breaks with positivity he should be bang there off an unchanged mark. Yard in decent form of late and no reason why he can't go one better with plenty of pace to aim at.

Kurasso Blue 33/1

Can forgive his effort at the Cheltenham Festival seeing that early mistake essentially ruined any chance of going close in the National Hunt Chase. Much better is to be expected here in first-time headgear. Plenty of value to be had and at such a big price he's worth siding with each way. Interesting that Kurasso Blue's Sire Masked Marvel has a very impressive 42.86% strike rate with progeny in first-time headgear (cheekpieces).

Candonomore 15/2

Has yet to find form since moving to this new yard but it's early days yet and they've still been working him out. Was very well backed on last run which was encouraging and he's come down in the handicap again and it must be a positive that Rossa Ryan has been booked to ride for the first time.
