Glorious Goodwood gets underway today with a competitive looking eight race card shown live on ITV. Key features are the Group 1 Goodwood Cup, where Illinois looks to go one better than his Ascot Gold Cup second, and the Group 2 Lennox Stakes.

Jolly Jack Tar 15/2
Has won two out of his four career starts to date and remains totally unexposed heading into a better Class race here with Will Buick on board for the first time.
The Gosden's are in top form at the moment with the yard currently operating at an impressive 32% strike rate.
Jolly Jack Tar has also had a nice 40 day break so you'd imagine he's going to be raring to go for this and although he's never raced at Goodwood before, his Sire Too Darn Hot has a rock solid 29% strike rate with progeny who run at this track.
Zavateri 13/2
Is unbeaten in two career starts to date and looks like an impressive horse with more to come upped in trip to 7 furlongs with pedigree suggesting that this will be no disadvantage to him.
He showed with his performance last time out that he's more than useful when quickening nicely to win the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket.
Looks to be a big player once more here despite carrying a penalty.
Kinross 4/1
He's not getting any younger but he loves it here at Goodwood and you'd imagine he's going to be ready to give it his best shot once more.
Won this race in 2021 and 2023 and then placed in this back in 2022 so has more than good enough course and distance form.
Illinois 6/4
Hard to ignore last year's winning duo of Ryan Moore and Aidan O'Brien here with this horse arriving off the back of showing very decent form.
Horses who run well or win at Chester tend to be right there when it comes to Goodwood and Illinois showed his class when winning the Ormande two starts ago.
Was then second to Trawlerman in the Ascot Gold Cup but the winner was seriously good that day so he didn't lose much in defeat.
Fancied to return to winning ways here and is the one to beat.
Shagraan 10/1
This previous course and distance winner arrives to Goodwood here off the back of some consistent runs when placing in better races than this.
Tom Marquand is back on board to ride for a trainer in Michael Appleby who has a very impressive 34.78% strike rate when it comes to sending horses over this course and distance.
Gets his perfect ground conditions so everything looks in order for a big run.
