ITV Racing Tips for Today - Saturday 21st February

It's a bumper day for ITV racing that sees action from four different courses, with Kempton, Lingfield, Newcastle and Fairyhouse. With three graded races coming from Kempton, the Winter Derby taking place at Lingfield and the feature races of the Eider Chase and the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse all getting the spotlight. We've gone through all the live races on ITV to pick out our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Bourbali 12/1

Well suited to this course and distance, placing 5 times in his career at this venue over both hurdles and fences. Has spent the majority of this season over hurdles coming 2nd in two of his three outings. Most recently a good 2nd at Taunton off a 1lbs higher mark. Shuffled down slightly in the weights and back at a course that suits, he looks well enough treated for a big effort.

Valiant Force 5/2

Has proven he has a love of the all-weather, being in good form over at Dundalk over the minimum trip. Putting in a good display there last time out to run out an easy 4 lengths winner. Will get the perfect tow into the race from Democracy Dilemma to track the pace and kick for home. Looks to have the pace to get the better of all of these.

Precious Man 4/5

A French recruit for the Skeltons who was outstayed by One Horse Town at Cheltenham on soft ground when giving away 5lbs to that rival but bounced back to form last time out over C+D to win in impressive fashion. Meets that same rival on level terms now and looks more suited to this speedier test. Conditions to suit and will be hard to beat under Harry Skelton.

Chancellor 2/1

Got the better of Tyrrhenian Sea in a listed race at Lingfield two weeks ago, well backed before the race and finding plenty to stretch away late without being asked for maximum effort. Shapes like he’ll relish the step up in trip and will get a hot pace to aim at in front, giving him the perfect tow into the race.

Jax Junior 8/11

Has posted the strongest form over fences in this field, getting off the mark at this venue over slightly shorter back in November. Had excuses when beaten at Ascot in a graded race, bled from the nose, but fired back into form at Sandown over 2 miles last time out taking a handicap chase in good style. Back to a speed favouring venue and rated 6lbs+ better than the rest of the field, he’s the standout in this race.

Red Delta 14/1

Won the Lincolnshire National on his last outing and despite running off a 9lbs higher mark here, sneaks in at the bottom of the weights and is a progressive type over these marathon trips. Given a short break since the win the Market Rasen, he’s got considerably less mileage on the clock than a few of his rivals here and can take advantage of his still lenient looking handicap rating this out and out stamina test.

Klub Du Reve 9/2

Got off the mark over C+D in taking fashion 57 days ago, despite being hampered by a loose horse, running out an easy 10 lengths winner. He had some smart form in the books for Harry Derham before breaking the maiden, coming 2nd to some smart rivals like Gentleman Tooboot and 3rd to Kadastral in a bumper. Brings the strongest form to the table here and will be hard to peg back on this speed favouring course from the front.

Captain Cody 15/2

Sent off a warm favourite for the Thyestes Chase despite carrying a heavy weight off a mark of 150 but only got as far as the 5th fence before falling. Represents a yard that have won the last three runnings of this race. Progressive last season, winning the Scottish Grand National and with the market expecting a big run at Gowran last time out, he should still be ripe for a good effort. Handles deep ground and stays well, can be in the mix up with a clean round of jumping.

The Doyen Chief 8/1

Arrives here with a very eye-catching record of a perfect 2 wins from 2 runs over this C+D, the latest coming out his most recent outing last month when winning by a neck. Only raised 1lbs for that win looks lenient as he doesn’t do much when he hits the front and rallied well to get back in front. Loves this track and trip and still looks competitively handicapped off a mark of 139.
