ITV Racing Tips For Today

It's All Weather Championships Final Day on Friday the 3rd of April with two all weather cards from Newcastle and Lingfield hosting competitive handicaps to bring a close to the all weather season. With eleven races on ITV to pick through, we've assessed all the live contests to offer our tips and selections for the afternoon.

Stateira 7/4

Improved markedly for the drop down in trip to 7 furlongs when last seen, running out an impressive 4.5 lengths winner over C+D. Hit to the tune of 10lbs by the handicapper for that win, she still looks like there’s wriggle room in her mark of 96. Didn’t beat a great field last time, but did it easily and can improve again for the Balding yard. Oisin Murphy takes the ride again.

Tip: 2.40 Lingfield

Carbine Harvester 8/1

Has a good record at this venue in just two visits, winning and coming 2nd. Went close at Kempton in a lower grade back in December and hasn’t been disgraced in stronger contests than this recently. Eases back in grade and has had a few lbs shaved off his handicap mark. On his last placed mark, goes well here and a 5lbs claimer takes over in the saddle.

Tip: 3.00 Newcastle

The Lost King 9/2

Has been in fine form this All weather season, winning twice and finishing second on his other run. Looked smart last time out at Wolverhampton, asserting well late on to beat a subsequent winner in good style. Looks to have gotten away quite lightly with a 5lbs rise in the weights and with higher rated horses in the field, gets in here with a nice racing weight of 9st0lbs. Still well handicapped and progressive in this sphere.

Tip: 3.15 Lingfield

Wyld Bill 13/2

Has been in fine form this all weather season, winning 5 times and climbing the weights and classes. Tackled a deep looking class two contest when last seen off a career high mark of 87 and ran well behind Regal Ulixes who runs over at Newcastle. Last winning rider Jack Dace returns to the saddle claiming 5lbs and a mark of 88 might not have gotten to the bottom of his improvement yet.

Tip: 3.35 Newcastle

Marshman 15/2

Came 3rd in this race last year off a lofty mark of 110 and returns 12 months later in decent form and 5lbs lower in the weights. Ran well to be 3rd behind Cool Hoof Luke at Wolverhampton last time out, beaten by less than a length and drops back to a more ideal 6 furlongs off a workable enough looking handicap mark now.

Tip: 3.50 Lingfield

Invited 11/1

Won over C+D on New Year’s Day before not enjoying the drop in trip to 7 furlongs on his penultimate effort. Stepped back up to a mile off this mark in a strong looking contest for the grade last time out to be a creditable 3rd. Only 2lbs higher than his last winning mark, he’s well drawn to get a good handy position and turn the screw from the front.

Regal Ulixes 9/4

Needed his comeback return from a lay off at Newcastle in January but took a massive step forward when running out a ready winner at Lingfield over this trip in February. Didn’t quite handle the drop to 8.5 furlongs in a deep contest at Wolverhampton last time out but finished well. Still well enough treated off a mark of 99 and will improve for stepping back up in trip.

Dramatic Star 13/2

Screaming out for the step up in trip since coming 2nd to The Reverend at Haydock over 14 furlongs back in September. Returned off a break last time out at Kempton over an inadequate looking 12 furlongs when running well enough. Shuffled down 1lbs in the handicap for that effort, he looks well treated off a mark of 93 and can find improvement now switched to staying trips with patient tactics.
