Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 106
Days: 212

Polly Pott makes her debut for Ben Pauling here after previously being trained by Harry Dunlop. The three-year-old had a good season last term, capped off by career-best 40/1 winner of the Group Two May Hill Stakes at Doncaster in September over one mile.

Not in the same form on last run in 2022, finishing fourth in Group One Fillies’ Mile here in October but she goes here off 106 and could see her doing better than that last run. Others may make more appeal on form, however.

Richard Hannon sends his filly Powerdress to the 1000 Guineas, with the three-year-old showing promise on her first two starts. She made her debut here in a class four maiden stakes contest over five furlongs, where she won by a head to Yahsat before stepping up to seven furlongs here again next time out, finishing third.

She should have more to give but this does look like a big ask for the three-year-old.

Richard Hannon sends his three-year-old Mammas Girl to the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday, with the filly having won her first two outings. She triumphed in Newmarket novice in October last year, beating Ribla by two lengths before making it two out of two with a victory at the same course in the Group Three Nell Gwyn Stakes, beating Fairy Cross by over two lengths.

She should stay the 1m trip having run at seven furlongs previously and should give a decent account of herself. The favourites look tough to beat here, however.

OR: 114
Days: 184

Aidan O’Brien sends one to the 1000 Guineas with his three-year-old Meditate, who has had an outstanding start to life on the flat, winning five of her first seven races. Those wins include the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf over 1m at Keeneland in November last year, as well as group two at Curragh and group three at Royal Ascot.

Finished behind fellow runner Tahiyra at Curragh in September in a group one contest and has a chance of reversing that form here. Her only previous start over this trip resulted in victory last time out and he should be there at the end. Ryan Moore takes the ride.

Kieran Cotter sends his three-year-old to the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday after a good start to her racing career, with two wins from her first seven runs. She has performed well on her group outings too, finishing third at Curragh in a group two, third in Group Two Lowther Stakes at York and second in a group three at Leopardstown on reappearance last month.

The three-year-old will need to improve further to figure here but she shouldn’t be ruled out on her strong showings in decent company.

N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 110
Days: 72

Three-year-old Mawj makes her fourth appearance here at Newmarket, having won here twice and finishing third on the other occasion. She arrives here having had two runs in 2023, winning both at Meydan to fellow runners Dream Of Love and Fairy Cross on the other occasion. She now goes for her second group one success in the 2000 Guineas here.

Was behind Meditate and Lezoo in the Cheveley Park Stakes but proved she can stay this trip in that second Meydan win, and others have stamina to prove. Cannot be discounted in this.

Days: 18

Charlie Appleby sends a couple for the 1000 Guineas with three-year-old’s Dream Of Love and Fairy Cross. The latter has had six runs in her career so far, claiming victories at Goodwood and here on her second appearance. That Goodwood victory came in a group three and has also finished behind Mammas Girl and Mawj on a couple of occasions here and at Meydan.

Fairy Cross is the least fancied of Appleby’s two here and Buick sides with Dream Of Love. James Doyle will do the steering here.

Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 105
Days: 226

Roger Varian sends his filly Olivia Maralda to Newmarket on Sunday for this contest, with the three-year-old showing decent form throughout 2022 before disappointing on her final run of the year to finish ninth in Group Two Rockfel Stakes over seven furlongs here in September.

Her only victory so far came in a class four contest, but she wasn’t far off Meditate at Curragh in August in group two (three-quarters-of-a-length behind). She has something to prove after that disappointing end to the year and would be an unlikely winner.

Charlie Johnston sends 66/1 outsider Dance In The Grass to the 1000 Guineas after a seven-month break since her sixth-place finish in the Group Two Rockfel Stakes here in September, behind fellow runner Sweet Harmony, who finished fourth. She was seventh in the Group Two May Hill Stakes at Doncaster prior after winning a couple of Sandown contests but hasn’t managed to transform that into grouped form.

One of the outsiders that may struggle here.

Ralph Beckett has a couple in this race with Remarquee and Lezoo. The latter arrives having had an unbelievable debut season last year, winning four of her first five starts for Beckett. Those wins include grouped success at Ascot as well as winning here in the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes in September, beating fellow runner Meditate by three-quarters-of-a-length.

The three-year-old was also second to Mawj in another grouped contest here and now makes her step up to 1m. Unknown whether she will stay the trip but if she does, she should be there or thereabouts.

Age: 3
Weight: 9-2

Days: 232

Three-year-old Queen Me travels to the 1000 Guineas having finished well on all three of her career starts so far. She managed to run on well on debut to win Haydock maiden before finishing second in the Lowther Stakes at York, ahead of a few of her fellow runners in this contest. Third at Ayr in a group three followed to round off a good start to her career in 2022 and she now heads to this Newmarket contest in search of her first group one success.

There's potential for more with her but this will be her first effort at 1m.

Dermot Weld sends his three-year-old Tahiyra to the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday, with the filly winning her first two starts in her career so far. The first of those came at Galway, which resulted in a five-and-a-half length success to Dower House before making it two out of two at Curragh last time out in Group One Moyglare Stud Stakes over seven furlongs, just over two lengths ahead of Meditate.

She’s a very exciting prospect for Weld and it’s no surprise to see her at the top of the market currently. Will take some beating.

Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 99
Days: 190

Jack Channon sends his three-year-old Caernarfon to the 1000 Guineas, with the filly in pretty good form last term. She didn’t finish outside the top three on all but one occasion, and that run includes wins at Ayr in a class four contest over seven furlongs and also here over 1m in a listed event.

She was ahead of Dream Of Love that day, who finished third, and there’s little reason why she can’t run well again. Might be a steep ask to claim victory, but a small each-way bet at 40’s wouldn’t be the worst idea with the form she showed last year.

Richard Spencer trains the big market outsider for this contest, priced at 100/1 in Sweet Harmony. The three-year-old did win on her second career outing at Yarmouth in a class five and finished fourth in the Rockfel Stakes here as well as finishing seventh in the Nell Gwyn Stakes here last month, behind a few of these.

Probably below the level here and has been beaten by some of the more fancied runners in this contest.

Stenton Glider aims for 1000 Guineas success after just two starts in her career. She has finished in the top two on both occasions, winning on debut by two-and-a-half-lengths to Prepense in a Chester novice over seven furlongs. She followed that with a second-place finish to fellow runner Remarquee in the Group Three Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury last month.

The three-year-old has plenty more improvement on the way and can go well here. Tough to say whether she’ll win or not but a good run should be on the cards.

Ralph Beckett boasts one in this year’s renewal of the 1000 Guineas with his filly Remarquee, who has made a good start to her career with two wins from two runs so far. She won well on debut at Salisbury back in September before scoring again up in class in the Group Three Dubai Duty Free Stakes at Newbury last month, a neck ahead of Tom Marquand on Stendon Glider.

She got up well to win there and now heads for 1000 Guineas success on her first outing in this company. Many good runners in this and there’s no reason why she couldn’t run a big race, but Aidan O’Brien’s Meditate and Dermot Weld’s Tahiyra look good at the top of the market.

Charlie Appleby sends two to this Newmarket contest in the form of Fairy Cross and Dream Of Love. The latter has made a decent start to her career, winning on debut here before third in listed event here again in October last year. She’s had one run in 2023, finishing second in Fillies Classic Stakes at Meydan in January, behind fellow runner Mawj and now heads to Newmarket again for the 1000 Guineas.

She made good ground from a fair way back on that Meydan outing and she is one to consider here up in trip. William Buick does the steering.

Three-year-old filly Karsavina makes her third start at Newmarket after running here twice so far in her career, winning on debut in class four novice by a head to Time’s Eye. She made her second start here in the Nell Gwyn Stakes, where she finished fourth behind a few here, with Mammas Girl claiming victory.

This trip should suit her and she will improve further but there are a few who have claimed grouped successes and she hasn’t.

Owen Burrows boasts one in this year’s 1000 Guineas with his filly Embrace, who has had three runs in her career so far. Those runs have come at Kempton, Wolverhampton and Newbury, with her one win coming at Wolverhampton over seven furlongs in a class four contest. She was fourth behind a couple here at Newbury in a group three before heading for Guineas success.

Her last run provides encouragement that she can cut it at this level, but this will be harder, with many horses claiming grouped success here. Not dismissed.

Richard Spencer sends his three-year-old Naomi Lapaglia to the 1000 Guineas after her only run in her career back in November last year, where she won a 14-runner novice at Kempton over one mile. She stayed on well to beat John & Thady Gosden’s 1/1fav Naaey by half-a-length when priced at 14/1 in the hands of Daniel Tudhope.

She will potentially be a good runner but it is a little unknown how she will fare here after just one run. Maybe in the deep end a little bit.
