More of That Race Horse

More of That Horse

Sired by previous King Edward VII Stakes, Dee Stakes and Scottish Derby winner Beneficial, bay gelding More Of That was born in 2008. He was bought by John O’Byrne on behalf of J.P McManus at six months of age, where More Of That was sent to the Jonjo O’Neill stables at Jackdaw Castle in order to improve his chances of future success through being trained by a decorated former jockey and horse trainer.

Currently holding a record of seven wins and four thirds from eighteen major runs, Jonjo O’Neill has often mentioned the poor luck of More Of That, who has been entered into races with other horses that are almost unbeatable, making his record far weaker than it ought to be. Recent times haven’t seen as much glory for More Of That, but it’s hoped that he can get back to winning ways in future races.

More of That Races

Starting off with four successive wins saw More Of That finishing first in The Sicame Maiden Hurdle at Folkestone, The Watch Racing UK On Freeview 231 Handicap Hurdle at Wetherby, The Best Odds With Betfair Sportsbook Handicap Hurdle at Haydock, The Osborne House Relkeel Hurdle during The International at Cheltenham, and in The Ladbrokes World Hurdle in his first entry into Cheltenham Festival.

Such a strong start to his professional racing career placed a hefty precedent, but the unbeaten run came to an end in More Of That’s next race at Newbury, where he could only reach third despite being favourite. Returning to Cheltenham for The November Meeting saw a response, More Of That winning The Steel Plate And Sections Novices’ Chase, and continuing the return to form with a win in The Raymond Mould Memorial Novices’ Chase during The International.

The next edition of The Cheltenham Festival didn’t see the same level of quality, as More Of That could only make it to third in The RSA Chase. This ended up being the start of a devastating drought for More Of That in terms of wins, prompting a bout of ten races without a single win including in The Cheltenham Gold Cup and The Aintree Grand National.

More of That Cheltenham

Featuring at Cheltenham Racecourse for the first time in 2013, More Of That won The Osborne House Relkeel Hurdle. This was perfect practice for the next edition of The Festival, where he won The Ladbrokes World Hurdle at a starting price of 15/2. Missing the next edition of The Cheltenham Festival ruled out the opportunity to capitalise on the strong form, but he made up for 2015 by taking wins in both The November Meeting and The International, finishing first in The Steel Plate And Sections Novices’ Chase and The Raymond Mould Memorial Novices’ Chase. The following two years didn’t see anything similar to the previous standard, failing to win in his next five entries into Cheltenham races including two appearances where he pulled up before the end.
