Friday sees the final day, day 4, and is all about the Cheltenham Gold Cup race. This race attracts the heavy weights from the racing world and we’re greatly anticipating another annual battle to land the prestigious number 1 spot.
The day starts with the Triumph Hurdle race and ends with the epic Grand Annual race.
Day 4 Racing Itinerary:
Since 2014, there have been two outsiders to take the prize in the first race of the final day at the Cheltenham Festival. The first was a 2/1, Peace and Co in 2015, followed by Ivanovich Gorbatov in 2016.
This race isn’t one for the favourites, if time is anything to go by you’ll find the usual victor to be an outsider. Over the years Willie Mullins has ran away with the prize and don’t be surprised to see him do the same again in 2019.
The race also offers up a good chance for the outsider, as it’s only seen three favourites take the prize since its inception in 2005. Not much happens for horses at big prices though, it’s usually taken by a horse with single digit SP but this offers a great opportunity for each way betting fans.
This race is seen by many punters as the penultimate race of the Festival. It could well be one of the best in 2018 with a number of fancied horses already being backed.
Keep your tips close for this one, as defending champion Sizing John will likely be back to defend his title.
One of the most competitive races comes as the Festival nears to its close. In recent years winners have come in at a low price and have been heavily backed.
Horses looking good for this race are Paint the Clouds, Wonderful Charm and On The Fringe, so we’re looking forward to a competitive and fiercely fought race.
Proving to be a popular race since it came into being in 2009, 2018’s looks like continuing with this theme, as there’s several horses already involved for this one.
Since this race came into being back in 2004 there have been two winners who were favourites, reflecting how much of a tough one for the punters this one is to predict.
