The first big race of the day on Friday is the Group Three Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes over a mile and Berkshire Shadow for Andrew Balding looks the value in the race.

A very smart juvenile winning his first two events at Ascot and Newbury over five and six furlongs, he then went to Goodwood over 7f and finished a good second behind dual Group One winner Angel Bleu in the G2 Vintage Stakes at last years meeting.

Seen twice more as a two year old he ran no race in the Gimcrack Stakes but then put up a superb performance to finish fourth in the Group One Dewhurst Stakes.

Back this term he made his seasonal debut in the 2000 Guineas and was a good fifth at a big price, and then next time out was not disgraced in the Group One St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot when sixth in a bunched finish.

Seen once more, he was last seen behind Mighty Ulysses and Alflaila in the Listed Sir Henry Cecil Stakes in third, with the latter horse since franking the form.

Should be closer to the favourite in the betting and looks the value.

Trainer To Follow - Roger Varian

Roger Varian sends a strong team to Goodwood on Friday and having not had the best week so far he could find himself in the winners enclosure.

In the Group Three Bonhams Thoroughbred Stakes he fields the favourite Bayside Boy who is looking to get back to the best of his form and then in the King George Qatar Stakes Mitbaahy has a big chance of reversing the form with Raasel.

Varian also fields Bolt Action in the Nursery Handicap and heads into the event with some leading form having finished a good sixth in the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes that has worked out well.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand

Tom Marquand is another racing figure that has found things tougher than usual this week but on Friday could see his best day of the five at the track.

In the opener he teams up with Hugo Palmer on Solent Getaway who is the second fav and then in the Group Three Bonhams event he rides Rocchigiani who has been well backed.

Holding a leading chance in the Golden Mile Handicap with Montassib, he then jumps on Caturra in the King George Qatar Stakes and he could outrun his odds.

Marquand has two more rides on the day, getting the mount of John Leeper down in trip in the Glorious Stakes and then in the finale is not out of the reckoning with Le Forban.

The rider has been riding to a fair level of late currently running at a strike rate of 23% for the last 14 days, managing to land 10 of his last 44 rides.
