Who To Follow At Newmarket On Thursday

Horse To Follow - La Barossa

The first big race of the day is the Group Three Tattersalls Stakes over seven furlongs and there is no other place to look than the favourite La Barrosa.

The Charlie Appleby trained two year old has a superb pedigree being bought for 750,000gns being a son of Lope De Vega.

He made an outstanding debut in a Class 3 at Ascot over seven furlongs, travelling lovely and then when being asked to go for home finding plenty.

He will be sure to come on for that run and with conditions in his favour he looks the pick of the bunch.

Trainer To Follow - Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby has had a stellar season to date and at his local Newmarket track he will be looking to start the first of three days well and she should with some stand out chances.

The handler has been in good form over the last two weeks with three winners from 16 runners which sees him pose a 18.75% strike rate.

He has 22 winners and 26 places from 90 runners at the track this season returning a win rate of 24.4% and with short price chances like La Barossa and First Winter it would not be a surprise to see if landed some good winners on Thursday.

Jockey To Follow - William Buick

William Buick like his retained trainer Charlie Appleby has had a fine season to date and although the jockey championships might be out of his grasps, he can still land a big number of winners for the year.

He has some stand out chances at Newmarket on Thursday with big rides on the likes of La Barossa, First Winter and Grand Bazaar who are all short prices.

Buick has been in flying form over the last two weeks posing a strike rate of 19.12% by having 13 winners from 68 rides.

Newmarket has been his main stomping ground this term with 30 wins and 30 places from 104 rides which sees him with a win rate of 28.85%.
