Who To Follow At Haydock On Saturday - 29/05/21

Horse To Follow - El Astronaute

The first big race of the day from Haydock is the Listed Achille Stakes and the consistent sprinter El Astronaute looks a lovely price of 5/1 to take the event.

The 5f specialist has seen it all over the years, and event at the age of eight is showing clear enthusiasm for the game when winning last time out on seasonal debut at Chester in a Conditions Stakes.

The gelding has been versatile when it comes to ground throughout his career, winning this event last year on good ground at Doncaster, but then also finishing a good third in 2019 in the Group One Prix de l'Abbaye on very soft at ParisLongchamp.

Seems to be in fine form off the back of his seasonal debut and he should come on for that pipe cleaner, just needs to be as effective on this slower ground.

Big chance at 5/1.

Trainer To Follow - William Haggas

William Haggas sends a strong team over to Haydock on Saturday and with the trainer being in fine form ahead of the meeting we think he can continue it.

Towards the end of the card the handler could pick up some nice races, with his best chance of the day looking to be With Thanks in the Group Three John Of Gaunt Stakes.

In the lucky last the trainer fields the talented Elvrika, who last time got off the mark and now making her handicap debut off a mark of 77 she looks an attractive bet.

Haggas enters the meeting with a strike rate of 17.14% having landed six winners from his last 35 runners over the last two weeks.

Jockey To Follow - Tom Marquand

The jockey to follow on Saturday is Tom Marquand, who we believe is set to have a four timer with the book of rides he has acquired.

In the second race of the day he sits on the Tom Ward trained Capote's Dream who has been in fine form and still seems feasibly treated with his current mark.

Other big chances for the rider look to be Sir Maxi for Ralph Beckett and then With Thanks in the Group Three John Of Gaunt Stakes and Elvrika in the last for William Haggas.
