Who To Follow At Chester On Day One

Horse To Follow - Devious Angel

Chester’s May Festival kicks off with a hotly contested seven runner Novice Stakes affair over 5f and we’ve taken a real liking to the Tom Dascombe trained DEVIOUS ANGEL.

A four lengths seventh in a well ran maiden at Newmarket over this distance in April, the Cotai Glory filly built on that run in emphatic style at Southwell 12 days later winning by over five lengths on the bridle.

She’d drifted from 15/8 to 5/1 on that occasion and considering the ease she won with, much more is clearly expected from her for a partnership who are seen quite often in the winners enclosure at this course.

Trainer - Tom Dascombe

Trainer Tom Dascombe has a very special relationship with Chester racecourse with it being his local track and over the years gaining a huge amount of winners.

On the first day of the May meeting he has some live chances starting in the first with Devious Angel who looks a very nice daughter of Cotai Glory.

Other runners that look to hold big chances for the handler are Harmony Lil in the five furlong Handicap and Paws For Thought in the six furlong Handicap.

Dascombe over the last year on the Roodee has a remarkable record of five winners and two places from 27 runners, which sees him running at a 19%.

With that if you were to have backed all of his horses from a £1 level stake you would be £15 in profit which is superb.

Jockey To Follow - Ryan Moore

Ryan Moore has had a very successful start to the season with winners in both Britain and Ireland and at Chester on Saturday it would be a surprise to not see him in the winners enclosure.

His big chances across the day start with Armor for the inform Richard Hannon and then in the next he sits on Nicest for Donnacha O'Brien, who could be a star in the making.

The experienced rider has been in fine form over the last two weeks winning nine races from his 44 rides which sees him running at a strike rate of close to 21%
