TWE's Three Novice Hurdlers To Follow During The 2022/23 Jumps Season

A horse that is not known too many is Demandrivingdouvan for Gordon Elliott who off the back of his PTP win could be an exceptional talent for the yard.

A son of Walk In The Park the five year old was a 11 length winner at Borris House in March 2022 and was then bought by Buttonwood Farm and given to Elliott.

Only seen once in a bumper to date back in May, he was a decent second over two miles and he looks to be a horse that might want much further in time.

An exciting talent for a yard that could have a big season off the back of some tough years.

James's Gate bounded onto the racing scene last year for Willie Mullins and owners Sean & Bernardine Mulryan and having impressed on his three bumper starts, he looks like a horse that is only going to get better for the switch to flights.

A superb winner on debut at Punchestown in February when revelling in the heavy ground to bolt up by eight lengths, he was then seen as a big contender for the Grade One Champion Bumper.

Heading to the Cheltenham festival his heavy ground conditions came and he ran a stormer behind stablemate Facile Vega and American Mike to finish third.

Last seen at the Punchestown festival when slightly underwhelming on his quickest conditions to date, the key to this horse is juice in the ground and it looks as though the Grade Ballymore Novices' Hurdle will be his big target for the season.

Another runner for Willie Mullins yard that could have a big season over hurdles this term is the Rich Ricci trained Mercurey, who bounded onto the scene last year as a four year old.

Making his debut in January the gelding got off the mark in extremely taking style when bolting up 13 lengths at Gowran Park.

Seen once more last season having opted skip the Cheltenham festival, Mercurey was a fair third behind stablemate Impulsive Dancer at Limerick.

Whatever he did last term was a bonus with plenty of development set to come physically and looking like a type that will improve for hurdles, he is of big interest this term in Grade One company.
