Trainer Paul Nicholls on Tuesday is looking to have a winner at Carlisle today over the jumps, sending just one runner to the Northern based track on the day, which sees the handler make a 620 mile round trip.

When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.

Nicholls has had a stellar season to date with winners up and down the country and he is sending just the one runner in hope of landing a winner at Carlisle.

The Ditcheat handler fields Highland Hunter in the 3m2f and the eight year old has a huge chance to land the spoils if being able to get over his fall last time out.

The eight year old has been a successful point to point winner and has also been a superb staying hurdler, finishing a good third two starts ago at Haydock in a Grade Three event behind Main Fact.

He was then stepped up to fences and unfortunately fell on his chase debut, but with conditions to suit and him learning from his mistakes he should be better today.

Paul Nicholls has a superb record when travelling this far to race his horses currently running at a strike rate of 33% for his career, having 132 winners from 396 runners.

With this, Nicholls is also in fine form heading into the meeting today landing nine winners from 34 runners over the last two weeks which sees him pose a 26% win rate.
