Trainer William Haggas on Friday is looking to have a winner on the all weather at Newcastle, sending just one runner to the Northern based track on the day, which sees the handler make a 488 mile round trip.

When we see trainers coming such a long way to just run the one horse we like to highlight it, as we believe they would not be coming all that way if it did not have a real chance.

The leading Newmarket handler runs Pop Favourite for owners Lael Stable that have also had the likes of One Master with the yard.

The three year old son of Fastnet Rock is looking to get off the mark for the first time in his career this afternoon, putting in two improved efforts so far during his career.

The gelding started his career at Lingfield at the start of January, really needing the experience and improved for that run last time out when a good third of eight on the Fibresand at Southwell.

He will appreciate the return to a better surface at Newcastle this afternoon and with two good runs under his belt he should go a lot better, dropping down to seven furlongs.

Haggas has a superb record when travelling this far with his horses, running at 34% strike rate having 170 winners from 494 runners during his career.
