The Group Two Dante Stakes is the feature race across the three days at York this week and today we are looking back at the 2020 renewal of the race that took place later in the season.
The Mark Johnston trained Thunderous was a surprise winner of the event, managing to see off the favourite Highest Ground for Sir Michael Stoute.
The race saw one of the best finishes to the contest in a while with a photo called and the stewards gave Thunderous the win.
It was a typical Mark Johnston trained horse performance, gritting out the win in the final strides of the event managing to battle against arguably the better horse.
Thunderous has four wins in his seven outings to date and although coming back this season and not performing to the standards of last term, he is a very smart horse.
Enjoy!

Oisin possibly thought he had the race wrapped up at the 2f pole but Highest Ground concedes his unbeaten record, worn down in the closing stages by the Mark Johnston-trained THUNDEROUS who stays on stoutly đ
