Throwback Race For Tuesday - 16/02/21

Cyrname

On Saturday the feature race of the day is the Grade One Ascot Chase and ahead of the black type events we will be looking back at some of the best renewals of the event.

Today we are looking back at the 2019 renewal of the event which saw Paul Nicholls introduce Cyrname to the national hunt scene.

Off the back of landing the event two years ago he was given the highest rating of any jumps horse in Britain and went on to test that when taking on Altior a year later.

It came over an extended trip that did not suit Altior but Cyrname inflicted his first defeat to Henderson's horse over fences and it saw the handicapper get it right with Cyrname.

However, it has not been plain sailing for the nine year old, who has been comprehensively beaten in the last two King George VI Chases and took an extremely heavy fall in this race last year when looking to defend his title.

Cyrname will be looking to get back his Grade One title on Saturday but after his lesser performance at Kempton last time out he may need a career best performance.
