Sea The Stars

Today we are looking back at the 2009 Epsom Derby which saw the superstar Sea The Stars land the Guineas and Derby double for Irish legendary trainer John Oxx.

During his career the Christopher Teal owned horse raced nine times and bar his debut, he went on to win the other eight races, landing six Group Ones in his time.

The now super sire has created some amazing horses over the last few years all off the back of his pedigree, with many owners looking to be associated with the horse when seeking the next Derby winner.

Having landed the Guineas in May 2009, he was next seen at Epsom where 1m4f was a big stamina question for him, but having been ridden patiently, Mick Kinane swopped down the outside and outstayed the field.

After that event he went on to take out the Eclipse, Juddmonte International, Irish Champion Stakes and the pinnacle race of the flat racing calendar with the Arc.

Today we are looking back at his win in the Derby.
