Three Horses To Follow This Weekend

The first horse we want to discuss that is set to run on Saturday is the Paul Nicholls trained Cill Anna who looks to be running in the Listed Mares Novices Hurdle at Doncaster.

The five year old mare has made huge strides forward this term after starting over bumpers in October and not running to bad standard but over hurdles she has looked a different animal.

She went to Wincanton in December and finished a strong third of 13 behind a nice type for Tom Lacey and since then she has used that to be unbeaten in her next two contests.

The pacy mare headed to Warwick in a Mares Novices Hurdle and when taking on a decent runner for the Skelton's she stuck to the task well to land her first contest over timber.

She added to this next time out at Wincanton when beating a much better field in a similar event and now stepping up to Listed company she looks the pick of the ante-post field.

On a day that sees some lacklustre racing for a weekend we think this Tom Lacey trained five year old is a very classy gelding that could just blow this field away.

At the start of last year this youngster made his bumper debut at Cheltenham on New Year's Day and got off the mark in tremendous style.

He was patiently waited on and did not reappear until this term when sent over hurdles and scoring again on his debut at Huntingdon, seeing off a decent field.

It has been slightly tougher since then finishing third in a Listed event at Haydock and then back at Cheltenham finishing fifth in a very smart field of novices'

That form has been massively franked with the first, second and fourth since coming out and winning in good events and the third placed finished second behind a potential superstar in Sporting John.

He made another step forward when last seen at the start of the month when second to the highly touted Buzz and looking at his overall form claims he has to be the one to beat at Saturday.

The final runner this weekend we are fond of comes in the feature of the afternoon which sees the Grade Three Greatwood Gold Cup and Bags Groove for Harry Fry.

The nine year old is a value 12/1 shot currently and having not raced all season and known for going well fresh having last season won all three of his events at the start of the term.

He is four pounds better off than the mark he finished last season off with and we believe he holds a huge chance.
