Noel Meade's Disko Nearing Return After Freak Injury To Skull

Noel Meade has today given the racing world a positive update on his brilliant chaser Disko, who is nearing a return to action sooner than first thought.

The grey horse has not been seen for nearly a year now since winning the MyCarNeedsA.com Chase at Down Royal on what was supposed to be this seven year olds seasonal return to racing.

However this was not to be as he picked up a freak injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season and he has not been seen since. As a six year old novice he went on to win the Grade 1 Growise Champion Novice Chase at the Punchestown Festival beating some really tough horses in the process that last year went on to do really well.

He also before that won the Flagos Novice Chase beating last years Cheltenham Gold Cup dark horse for many in Our Duke and Ryanair Chase winner Balko Des Flo.

“We feared the worst, but he has actually healed well, and we are happy with how he’s going.

“We didn’t think he’d be ready before Christmas, but he’s coming along nicely and he will be ready in about a month.

“Whether we risk him in the John Durkan, wait until Christmas or wait for something else I’m not sure – there’s not a heap of races he can run in, but he’s coming on.”
