Starting life with Roger Varian, Kingmax failed to score in two outings as a juvenile but did show plenty of promise. Running twice over 6 furlongs he filled the 2nd place spot both times.

Not seen for the rest of the season and moved to David Loughnane after that, he came back over a mile this season and won smartly on the all weather in a novice race. After that impressive showing he tried to move up in grade but failed to get involved in the Craven Stakes.

Moved up in trip subsequently has seen him try 10 furlongs in group company. Coming a well beaten 5th in the Dante Stakes and then 3rd of six runners in the Hampton Court Stakes at Ascot.

Moving back down in trip and class might help but he didn’t look like he was crying out for a shorter trip last time out.

Berkshire Shadow

T: Andrew Balding
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 111
Days: 23

The winner of last year’s Coventry Stakes, Berkshire Shadow built upon his debut victory to score a group win over 6 furlongs with a bit in hand smartly.

Moved up in trip off the back of that he failed to back up his win at Goodwood and had to settle for 2nd place.

Dropped back to 6 furlongs off the back of that he again failed to justify favouritism and only managed to come home in 7th.

Rounding out his juvenile season with a decent run in the Dewhurst to be 4th, he looked to have his path set towards the 2000 Guineas.

Returning in the first classic of the season he was sent off a massive price and shaped well to be a decent 5th place. Kept at a mile and in group 1 company he was last seen coming 6th in the St James’ Palace stakes.

Not beaten too far by Coroebus. Dropping in class should help and he’s been running well over this trip this season.

Despite bumping into a decent sort on his first outing in the shape of Lusail, Albahr was well fancied in the betting for his debut and showed his talent when scoring at the second time of asking over 7 furlongs.

Gelded off the back of his success, he took a major step forward and defied a penalty with utmost ease in novice company. Moved up to a mile off the back of that saw him gain listed success at short odds before a trip over to Woodbine in Canada rounded out the season.

Scoring a grade 1 with bundles in hand, he returned as a 3 year old at short odds over in Meydan in a 7 furlong conditions race.

However he failed to really play any part and only beat two rivals home. Moving back up to a mile should suit him more but he’ll have to leave that run well behind.

The Acropolis

J: Ryan Moore
T: A P O'Brien
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 110
Days: 12

Making the trip over for Aidan O’Brien, the Acropolis has been quite highly tried for his age but has only managed to score once.

Being beaten in a maiden on his debut, he built upon the experience to score handily on his next start. Looking like a really smart prospect in doing so.

Moved up to group company off the back of that, he failed to hand the step up in grade and was only managing to finish midfield.

It’s been much the same this season. Aimed at lofty heights over a variety of trips, he's failed to really make much of an impression.

Going close in listed company on seasonal debut, he then was well beaten in group 1 company on his next two outings.

He did shape well last time out to only be beaten a neck in a listed race over a mile last time out and might have just found his niche.

Dane O'Neill

J: Dane O'Neill
T: Owen Burrows
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 109
Days: 19

Owen Burrows’ charge scored at the first time of asking last season but failed to really kick on from that initial success.

Unable to shoulder his penalty over 6 furlongs on his subsequent two outings in novice company he moved up to 7 furlongs in handicap company and ran well to be 2nd.

Taken up in grade to listed level after that he shaped well enough to be 4th, without really troubling the first three home.

Beaten by Coroebus in a group 3 at the end of the season over a mile, he shaped better over 7 furlongs when returning as a 3 year old.

Winning with plenty in hand in a handicap despite a mark of 102, he was last seen in the Jersey Stakes where he looked a little outpaced against better company.

He looked like a try at a mile might bring about some improvement. Judging by how easily he won a handicap off a lofty mark, he can easily make his presence felt at listed level.

Dawn Of Liberation

J: Pat Dobbs
T: Richard Hannon
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 104
Days: 34

Only seen three times last season, Dawn Of Liberation failed to break his maiden. Beaten twice over 7 furlongs and finally over a mile.

Maybe counting himself a little unlucky to bump into some decent horses like Reach For The Moon and Hoo Ya Mal along the way.

He’s shaped better as a 3 year old and broke his maiden first time out this year over 7 furlongs. A try at listed level seemingly exposed his limitations over 9 furlongs but he did manage to win over 7 furlongs again in a conditions race next time out.

Last seen at listed level again he was sent off favourite but failed to justify market support coming home in 4th.

A mile looks like his trip but he has to prove he can be effective at this level.

Frankie Dettori

Mighty Ulysses

J: Frankie Dettori
T: John & Thady Gosden
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 113
Days: 23

Frankie Dettori finds himself back in the saddle for the Gosdens here with Mighty Ulysses.

Only seen once as a 2 year old, the son of Ulysses made his debut in September last season and made a last impression to score by over 3 lengths with plenty in hand over a mile.

Aimed higher for his first start as a 3 year old, he struggled in listed company over 10 furlongs and wilted late on back into 5th.

Dropped in trip and grade after that saw him easily shoulder a penalty in a novice race over a mile. Moved into handicap company off the back of that saw him only narrowly denied in the Silver Bowl Handicap by Whoputfiftyinyou. Giving away bundles of weight to the winner.

Sent up in grade for his most recent outing saw him only narrowly beaten by Coroebus in the St James’ Palace Stakes.

This is a stark drop in grade and he’s likely to play a major role.

Jim Crowley

J: Jim Crowley
T: Saeed bin Suroor
Age: 3
Weight: 9-5
OR: 103
Days: 19

Only debuting this season for Saeed bin Suroor, this son of Giant’s Causeway made his debut in a 3 year old conditions race over in Meydan back in March and scored over 7 furlongs with ease.

Brought over to the UK off the back of that success, he managed to defy a penalty at Newcastle narrowly. Kept at the same trip and level for his next outing he managed to shoulder a double penalty with ease to score again on the all-weather.

Last seen moving up in grade to contest the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, he ran a creditable race to be 7th. Looking slightly outpaced in the closing stages, moving up in trip might unlock some more improvement.
