Weight: 9-2

Days: 14

Julie Camacho sends one runner to the Listed Carnarvon Stakes with Shaquille. The three-year-old has won four of his five races so far, with his only defeat coming in the Group Three Acomb Stakes here last August, when finishing last of nine as Chaldean secured victory. He is yet to win in this sort of company with all his victories coming in class two or three company at the likes of Newmarket, Wolverhampton and at York.

Should progress more and is lightly raced in this company as he makes listed debut. Not dismissed here in the hands of James Doyle.

Rousing Encore

Age: 3
Weight: 9-2

Days: 17

Richard Fahey sends one runner to this race at Newbury on Saturday with his colt Rousing Encore. The three-year-old has been inconsistent in this sort of company since winning two of his first three races at class two and five level at Beverley and Pontefract. His best effort in grouped company came when finishing second in Group Two Mill Reef Stakes here at Newbury in September, otherwise it has been a bit of a struggle for him.

He looks up against it again here with other runners making more appeal than him. Tom Marquand is booked to ride.

Ryan Moore

Aesop's Fables

J: Ryan Moore
T: A P O'Brien
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 110
Days: 28

Aiden O’Brien has one in this Newbury contest with Aesop’s Fables, a three-year-old colt who has had an indifferent start to his career so far. After winning his first two races at Navan and Curragh, he has recorded finishes of fourth (twice) and second (twice) in group one and listed company. Not disgraced when finishing fourth in Dewhurst Stakes (won by Chaldean) and should do better here amongst listed company.

The three-year-old is one to consider here but Noble Style looks a tough favourite to beat. Ryan Moore is booked to ride.

Hector Crouch

Rumstar

T: Jonathan Portman
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-7
OR: 106
Days: 225

Jonathan Portman sends one runner to the Listed Carnarvon Stakes in the form of Rumstar. The three-year-old has had a decent start to his career, winning three races at Bath (C5), Goodwood (C2) and Newmarket (C1) last time out in the Group Three Cornwallis Stakes over five furlongs. Decent effort when finishing fourth in the Group Three Sirenia Stakes at Kempton in September but that might be about as good as it can get.

Will need to improve further here if he is to challenge the leaders so is not dismissed completely. Hector Crouch is booked to ride.

William Buick

Noble Style

J: William Buick
T: Charlie Appleby
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 117
Days: 14

Charlie Appleby sends one to the Listed Carnarvon Stakes at Newbury on Saturday with Noble Style. The three-year-old has had a good start to his career, with the only failure on his record coming in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier this month, finishing sixth. This step back to six furlongs will help him, with his wins at Ascot, Newmarket and at York have all come over 6f or shorter.

Boasts the Group Two Gimcrack Stakes in his armoury and is the one to beat in this listed event on Saturday. William Buick does the steering on the favourite.

Jim Crowley

Rabaah

J: Jim Crowley
T: Charles Hills
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 90
Days: 82

Charles Hills sends one of his runners to this event at Newbury on Saturday with Rabaah. The three-year-old has shown promise in his early career so far, finishing third at Leicester on debut before winning his next two starts at Lingfield by two lengths and at Wolverhampton by just under five lengths before heading here for a big step into listed company.

This will be tougher for the colt having only raced at class four and five level but has shown improvement with each start and that can continue here. Must not be discounted here, Jim Crowley will do the steering.

Oisin Murphy

Desert Cop

J: Oisin Murphy
T: Andrew Balding
N/A
Age: 3
Weight: 9-2
OR: 104
Days: 17

Andrew Balding boasts one in the Listed Carnarvon Stakes with three-year-old Desert Cop. The gelding has had an indifferent start to his career, winning twice at Newcastle and Kempton as well as second to Harry Magnus at Kempton again but finishing ninth on debut and seventh of nine on turf debut in Group Three Commonwealth Cup Trial Stakes at Ascot earlier this month.

The 104-rated sprinter should find this contest a little easier, but it looks likely that another runner will win this one. Oisin Murphy is on board.
