ITV Racing Tips for Today - Sunday 18th January

It's the final day of the Winter Millions festival, with the final day of action coming from Windsor. Supporting Races from both Fakenham and Thurles round out a bumper Sunday of ITV racing Action and nine live televised races. We've taken a look at all the races scheduled for ITV4 and picked out our tips and selections for the day.

Wade Out 11/2

Simply looks a big price at 11/2 as he arrives here unbeaten over fences with a perfect 2 from 2 record. Just holding off Wendigo at Worcester on chase debut before an impressive win at Cheltenham in a listed novice chase. The form of his last run has worked out well with the 2nd and 3rd both winning since. Strong form in the books and should be right in the mix come the finish.

Torneo 5/1

Was beaten behind Mighty Bandit at Newbury last time out but didn’t get the stamina test he wants over this trip and gets a nice swing in the weights with Highlands Legacy and Might Bandit here. Has generally been consistent over fences and his 2nd to Triple Trade at Cheltenham on his penultimate start stand out form with the 3rd and 4th winning since. Weighted to go close again on favoured softer ground.

Princess Keri 3/1

Evan Williams’ mare has seemingly turned a corner recently and rediscovered her form this campaign since being dropped back to hurdles. Things weren’t clicking over fences last season and a return to the smaller obstacles in October has seen her come 2nd and win twice. She’s jumped up 18lbs in the ratings but is still progressing and should find this course suits.

Jade Du Grugy 2/9

She’s no real price but Jade Du Gurgy sets the standard at the top of the market. Not quite up to task on her first run over the bigger obstacles, she shaped better in defeat when 2nd to The Big Westerner at Limerick last time out. There doesn’t look to be anything of that quality in this race and she should get off the mark over fences here.

Kap Boy 9/1

Just starting to look like he wants a trip for Olly Murphy after winning well in a handicap hurdle at Perth over 2.5 miles and placing the last twice at Cheltenham and Kempton. Stayed on well late into 3rd last time out and should appreciate this step up in trip. Can defy a mark of 120 and should find improvement now moving to a staying trip.

Gazette Bourgeoise 5/1

Won in impressive fashion over C+D when last seen, forging clear late on to a 21 length victory. Not too harshly hit in the weights for that win, going up 7lbs and will appreciate the slightly softer underfoot conditions. A similar effort to last time out see her go close.

Protektorat 8/11

Put in a stellar effort in this race last year to absolutely bolt up by 23 lengths from Djelo. Carries 8lbs less this year and made a satisfactory return to racing for the season coming 3rd under a big weight at Cheltenham in a handicap in November. Best form in the field and should confirm his dominance again.

Appreciate It 10/11

Scored in this race last year and despite now being 12 years old, has shown he retains plenty of ability this season, coming 2nd to Gaelic Warrior and recent Savills Chase winner Affordale Fury. The pick of Paul Townend against 3 stable mates who likely have future assignments in handicaps being kept in mind. Should make it back to back wins in this race.

Planned Paradise 7/1

Won this race last year off a mark of 107 and clearly relished the step up to a marathon trip. Hasn’t managed to hit the same level of form since but has dropped in the weights and lines up off a 7lbs lower mark this year. Has spent his first two outings of this season running over inadequate trips and should find a good bit of improvement back over a proper staying trip. Too well treated to ignore.
