ITV Racing are live for the second day in a row bring the action from Newmarket for the Dewhurst Stakes and the Cesarewitch and Group Action from York on the flat. While the jumps season opener continues at Chepstow.
We've taken a look at the live races and picked out our tips and fancies for the day.
Damysus 13/8
Was slightly disappointing on seasonal comeback but took a big step forward to be 2nd in the Dante Stakes at York behind Pride Of Arras before seemingly not handling the trip and course at Epsom for the Derby.
Took a big step forward however when last seen dropped in trip over 10 furlongs over in France when winning a listed race in good style.
This trip looks well within his remit with the stiff finish and he should be hard to beat again if running to the same form.
Endorsement 9/4
This becomes a really gritty stamina test for the 2 year olds so it looks safer to side with Aidan O’Brien’s Endorsement who has won over a stamina sapping 9 furlongs and won going away.
Only seen twice so far in his career, he looked in need of a trip on his racecourse debut on soft ground over a mile before winning well last time out.
Looks to have the stamina needed to cope with this test, should be the one to beat.
Erzindjan 3/1
This is a poor renewal of this race and it’s hard to get away from the favourite at the top of the market in the shape of Erzindjan under Tom Marquand.
Went close over course and distance in July before a troubled run saw him come 7th again over track and trip back in York in what looked a deep handicap.
Ran a blinder to be 4th In the Cambridgeshire last time out and only nudged up 1lbs for that effort he still looks feasibly well treated. If in the same mood and getting a clear run, he should be right in the mix again.
Hankelow 5/2
The price of 3/1 looks a major oversight for Hankelow, he brings the best form to the table for the Autumn Stakes having narrowly been denied over 7 furlongs at Doncaster last time out.
Was just caught out for a little bit of pace at Doncaster so this step up to a mile with an uphill finish should just play to his strengths.
Officially rated 102, a run close to that mark should see him win this Group Three.
Zavateri 4/1
At the prices Zavateri simply has to be the play for the Dewhurst Stakes off the back of his win in the Vincent O’Brien Goffs stakes and taking his unblemished record to 4 wins on the bounce.
He got the better of Gstaad that day who’s shorter in the market and has more proven form in the books than Group Three winner Distant Storm.
Simply overpriced to confirm the form with Gstaad and win another Group One.
Commanche Falls 18/1
He’s not getting any younger at 8 years old but he loves the Knavesmire on quick ground and ran a fantastic race here in August to be a close 2nd to Northern Ticker off a 2lbs higher mark.
Hasn’t shaped badly the last twice but the softer ground might just have been blunting his finishing effort and a return to this course on quick ground should see him back to his best.
A mark of 97 looks lenient enough for him to play a hand if revitalised by his return to York and faster underfoot conditions.
Manxman 16/1
Only narrowly denied in the race last year by Alphonse Le Grande before coming 2nd in an all weather handicap to recent Prix Du Cadran winner Cabello De Mar.
Has come back round to form again this season, winning at Goodwood in May before some muddling runs at Ascot and Newcastle but hinted at a return to form with a close 3rd at Goodwood when last seen.
Is higher in the weights this year but connections have opted for talented 5lbs claimer Jack Callan in the saddle and the mark of 94 should be within his grasp. Can go close again in this marathon handicap.
