ITV Racing Tips for Aintree - Saturday 11th April

It's Day Three of the Grand National Festival from Aintree, featuring the Grand National at 4pm. With graded and handicap action filling the card until the big race, there's five live races on ITV for the afternoon and we've taken a deeper dive into all the races to pick out our selections for the day.

Get On George 18/1

Really progressive type over hurdles, coming on for his debut to win at Wetherby on soft ground and backed that effort up under a penalty at Doncaster on a faster surface. Ran a screamer in the EBF final at Sandown, which is a race that has proved to be a good clue here. A mark of 132 still looks well within his scope, he’s unexposed as a stayer and gets back on a sounder surface. Can outrun his big odds.

Ballyfad 7/2

Bombed out at Cheltenham having been kicked before the start but his form leading up to the Festival was rock solid. Beating Leader D’Allier in good fashion before a desperately close 2nd in a Grade One at the Dublin Racing Festival behind Talk The Talk. Represents a yard that has won the last four renewals of this race and can reverse the Turners’ form from Cheltenham with Bossman Jack and Soldier Reeves.

Lookaway 7/1

Shoulders top weight for this contest but has really progressed over fences recently, winning a 2.5 mile chase at Kempton by a wide margin before relishing the step up to 3 miles back at the same venue and winning again. Has been hit in the weights for his successes but is still relatively unexposed in this sphere, won the Graded bumper at this meeting 4 years ago, is only having his fifth chase start and his second try at this staying trip. Will make it a good test from the front.

Strong Leader 4/1

It’s hard to get away from Strong Leader with his fantastic Aintree record, four visits to this track have brought out two wins and two second places in his career. Thrives at this venue, has followed a similar path to last year when a narrow 2nd in this contest by skipping the Cheltenham Festival and gets ground to suit. Will be bang in the mix again under Sean Bowen.

Quai De Bourbon 25/1

Big engine but has let himself down with his jumping over regulation fences. However with how the test of the National has changed over the years the fences will now suit his low technique as he brushes through the top of the jumps. A good 3rd in the Irish National last year reads as solid form and he jumped much better at Leopardstown when last seen coming 3rd over a shorter trip. Rated 151, he gets a nice low racing weight, has some class about him and represents the winning yard of the last 2 renewals.
