Largely consistent, Gale Force Maya did return to form after a disappointing couple of runs in listed company. She won last time out in a C2 handicap and she did do it relatively easily.

She would seem like one of the more exposed runners but she always runs her race and has to be respected.

Gellhorn

Gellhorn looks to be up against it here. She has a lot to find with the field, and her last couple of efforts haven’t inspired any extra confidence.

She was last of 8 over 6f at Kempton last time out, though she did clip heels during the race. She has so much to find, it’s impossible to have any confidence in the mare today.

Won a listed race at the Curragh last time out and she was well bet there too. She travelled with ease and ultimately quickened up smartly to put the race to bed inside the final furlong.

A bold showing was clearly expected, hence the market support, and she looks to be in good form. This represents a different test today though, with better horses is she still in good form?

Watch market.

Solid, progressive filly by Adaay, could you have guessed?!

She ran an absolute cracker last time out at York in a competitive handicap, and she’s definitely deserving of her chance in group company now.

She’s done nothing but improve to date, but the standard is pretty high here, she’ll need to continue her progression should she be fighting out the finish.

Umm Kulthum ran to a high level at 2, we unfortunately didn’t see much of her at 3.

This year she won on her reappearance at Newmarket, from Tenaya Cayon, Flotus and Gale Force Maya, so all the right form is there.

She disappointed last time out though, and she’ll need to bounce back in what looks a hot race.

Tenaya Canyon ran a huge race last time out and was just piped by Guilded, who runs again here.

Tenaya Canyon impressed with the way she travelled, and she traded long odds on in running, she was fundamentally unlucky to be collared on her final stride. She’s solid and she’s probably still on an upward curve.

One of the likelier players.

Symphony Perfect

Exposed 3yo. Symphony Perfect has ran 14 times in her career to date. She’s only managed to win two, but she’s largely consistent.

She does often find a few too good though and she’s likely to play a support act once again. Tough to recommend.

A winner from Tenaya Canyon last time out, though she got there in the final strides. She is quite exposed, and she will need to improve to beat some of these, though she’s always showed clear signs of real ability.

Probably up against it but she’s very good on her day.

Smart, multiple group winning 2yo. She ran in the Commonwealth Cup, like Hala Hala Athmani, on her seasonal reappearance.

She was beaten the best part of two lengths by Hala Hala Athmani there and there’s no obvious reason why she can’t turn that around.

One of the classier horses in here, but she’ll need to build on her Royal Ascot effort to win.

Silvestre De Sousa

Flotus

J: Silvestre De Sousa
T: Simon & Ed Crisford

Age: 3
Weight: 9-0
OR: 111
Days: 21

She has been a very tough filly this year. Last year, as a 2yo, she had a tendency to down tools when the going got tough, this year she looks a different horse and she’s much more streetwise. She’s ran back-to-back crackers, and she’s been unlucky not to win.

Her third behind Perfect Power in the Commonwealth Cup is clearly the best form in here, and in her current mood she might be a tough one to beat.

Half-sister to Hello Youmzain, who was top class. Hala Hala Athmani has only ran the three times, winning once.

She was a good 7th in the Commonwealth Cup last time out, on only her third start off the back of a long lay off, so you can probably upgrade the run with all things considered.

She’s clearly very good.. but how good?

Won the listed Cathedral Stakes last time out at Salisbury. She quickened up smartly that day and she didn’t look to have a hard race at all.

She’s a progressive filly and she’s still relatively unexposed. Acclamation fillies tend to improve for racing too – which is a positive. Chance.
