Chester Sunday Preview

14:00 - Sermon

The first pick of the day from us is the Tom Dascombe trained Sermon who looks to be the one to beat from his three runs this season.

He has shown clear signs of ability and progression in his runs this year with figures of 322 in novice contests and he has a lot going for him.

He loves soft ground and will have the perfect conditions in this race and also being drawn in stall 2 makes him a massive player.

14:35 - Breathalyze

The second race of the day is the Class 4 Novice Stakes over seven furlongs and Breathalyze looks a hot prospect for the Tom Dascombe yard.

We are looking for a quick Dascombe double at Chester and this two year old looks very interesting finishing a good third on debut and hopefully improving for his first run.

The horse that won that day has since gone on to frank the form and win again and under a nice draw has every chance of getting off the mark.

15:10 - Angel Alexander

The feature race of the day is the Listed Queensferry Stakes over six furlongs and we have gone for the most in form horse in the field with Angel Alexander.

This Tom Dascombe trained runner has been raced frequently this season but to a very high standard in Class 3s winning three of his last five and finishing second in another.

He is a highly progressive gelding that although is stepping up in class and has to handle a tricky draw, has the best form heading into the race and will love the soft conditions.

15:40 - Gabrial The One

The penultimate selection of the day is Gabrial The One for trainer Richard Fahey in the famous colours of Dr. Marwan Koukash that are frequently seen at Chester.

This three year old was a course and distance winner back in May and has since ran five times at the track and most of them have been to a good standard.

He won't mind the soft ground winning and placing well on the surface before but if it does dry out he may be able to give a career best performance.

16:15 - Oh Purple Reign

The final selection comes in the Class 2 Conditions Stakes seems a competitive affair over six furlongs and we have picked the Richard Hannon trained Oh Purple Reign.

This two year old has been raced a few more times than usual juveniles but the colt has ran to a decent standard with two wins and three seconds in six races.

He was not at his best last time out in a Listed race and now back in an easier race he should be very tough to beat.
