Cheltenham Tips - Reasoning

Bambino Fever

Scored at the Cheltenham Festival last year when running out an impressive winner of the Champion Bumper. Disappointed slightly on her first run over hurdles but a lot of Willie Mullins’ horses have needed their first outing this season. Got off the mark at Fairyhouse last time out in good style and looks the one to beat again.

Wodhooh

A new superstar mare for Gordon Elliott over hurdles and won at the Festival last year in the Martin Pipe before narrowly being beaten by Lossiemouth in the Aintree Hurdle. A perfect 2 from 2 this season, winning at Ascot and Leopardstown. Top rated in this small field by 4lbs and will be hard to beat if putting in her usual display.

Teahupoo

Won this race in 2024 and was only denied by owner mate Bob Olinger in last year’s renewal. Reversed the form with Bob Olinger at Leopardstown by 7 lengths at Christmas in impressive fashion and has been kept fresh for this race. Can make it two wins in this race in three years.

Fact To File

Demolished the field in this race last year, running out a 9 lengths winner in easy fashion. Bounced back to form in the Irish Gold Cup last time out. Has a Cheltenham Festival record of 2-1-1 and will look to enhance it further with another bold display.

Cheltenham Tips - Reasoning

Echoing Silence

Took some time to come to her own over hurdles, being well beaten on her hurdles debut at Navan in December of 2024. After a win in a bumper she returned to hurdles in November and won well over 2.5 miles. Took another step forward to win a listed race last time out on deep ground. Has plenty of stamina to suit this course and handles quick ground.

Sixmilebridge

Drops from winning a grade one into handicap company after being an impressive winner of the Scilly Isles Chase at Sandown in January. Already a course and distance winner after taking a novice chase in impressive style. Unbeaten over fences and although at the top of the weights for this handicap he’s the stand out class in the field.

Jordans Cross

Has impressed in two runs so far at Cheltenham, winning last time out over this distance. He beat Quebecois who was third here on Tuesday, and an unlucky fall here in November when looking to have every chance. Remains unexposed and progressive.

Jonbon

The 10 year old is still a top quality horse, as he's shown when winning both of his last two races at Ascot - both of them Grade 1s. There's step up in trip will offset some of the pace he's lost and on form figures he's got every chance against the favourite.

Electric Mason

Qualified for this with a very creditable 2nd to Ma Shantou over course and distance back in October, with that rival going on to win the Grade Two Cleeve Hurdle on trials day. Not too harshly treated with a 7lbs rise in the weights for a grade three win at Haydock last time out. Still unexposed as a staying hurdler and the quick underfoot conditions will suit.

Minella Sixo

A late qualifier for this posting an eye-catching 2nd at Naas just 18 days ago. Has some good back form over hurdles and his best form has come on quick ground. Back on faster ground now and off a mark of 137 for a trainer that targets this race, he looks overpriced in the market.

Waterford Whispers

Unexposed as a stayer and was an eye-catching third at the Dublin Racing Festival over an inadequate looking 2 miles and 5 furlongs. A mark of 137 looks more than workable in this field and a 3lbs claimer hops into the saddle. Looks to have been plotted along the season with this goal in mind.

Herakles Westwood

Still well handicapped despite winning last time out at Cheltenham and finished second over course & distance here back in November with this jockey on board. Wind op may unlock more. He's consistent, likes the course and can go well here.
