The 2026 Cheltenham Festival draws to a close on Friday, where the Blue Riband event on the National Hunt calendar headlines the card. You can find a full rundown of the Gold Cup day card here.
Triumph Hurdle
The Grade One Triumph Hurdle kicks off the Gold Cup day card, with the notable absence of Narciso Has opening up the race. Proactif is likely to be a red-hot favourite, beating the reopposing Macho Man with something in hand last time. Highland Crystal and Minella Study are both interesting, unbeaten runners.
County Handicap Hurdle
Willie Mullins and Dan Skelton have dominated the last three editions of the County Handicap Hurdle, meaning it’s unsurprising that runners from their yards headline the betting. Murcia has previous Cheltenham form to her name, while Karbou is Paul Townend's preference. Sinnatra is the runner from the Skelton yard, while Absurde will be aiming to be the first ever back-to-back winner.
Mares’ Chase
The Irish have dominated the Grade Two Mares’ Chase, with last year’s winner Dinoblue headlining the betting for Willie Mullins. Panic Attack has already shown her class at Cheltenham this season, winning the November Gold Cup. Spindleberry showed plenty of ability before being pulled up in the Irish Gold Cup.
Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle
A stamina-sapping three-mile test for novice hurdlers is set for the Albert Bartlett. Doctor Steinberg headlines the betting after beating Kazansky at the Dublin Racing Festival. Thedeviluno could be Paul Nolan’s best chance of a winner this week, while The Passing Wife has opted for this after an impressive win last time out.
Cheltenham Gold Cup
A vintage renewal of the Cheltenham Gold Cup headlines the action on Friday, with three of the first four from the thrilling King George set to reignite their rivalry. The Jukebox Man got the better of Gaelic Warrior and Jango Baie at Kempton, but both reappearing rivals have previous Festival wins to their name. Haiti Couleurs gives Rebecca Curtis a leading hope, while last year’s winner Inothewayurthinkin shouldn’t be completely dismissed.
Hunters’ Chase
A maximum field of 24 runners will go to post for the Hunters’ Chase. Last year’s winner, Wonderwall, will be a red-hot favourite, while Wrappedupinmay gives Sam Curling a strong hand. Its On The Line has been a regular in this race, while Panda Boy deserves respect for Martin Brassil.
Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle
The 2026 Festival draws to a close with the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle, run over a distance of two miles and four. Kel Histoire has been well-backed for the Willie Mullins yard, while last year’s Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle winner Air Of Entitlement should be competitive. Roc Dino has run two big races in defeat this season, while East India Express is a previous course and distance winner.
