Corolla Point 15/2

Has been in cracking form this season and posted a fine 3rd at this course over 5 furlongs back in May. Raised 3lbs for a victory last time out at Hamilton, this 5.5 furlong trip looks like it’ll suit nicely and a mark of 100 isn’t out of his ability. Quite lightly raced with just nine runs to his name and looks primed for another big effort.

Haffner 7/4

Got off the mark when upped to 7 furlongs at Newmarket in July and nearly backed that up in the Vintage Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, not getting the cleanest of runs. Sets the standard here on that form and represents the O’Brien and Moore combination that have won 2 of the last 4 renewals of the race.

Maltese Cross 2/1

Showed a nice turn of foot when sneaking through a gap late to win the Grand Prix de Paris last time out. His only defeat this season came at the hands of Christmas Day in the Derby but with more emphasis on speed here on quick ground, he can reverse that form. Should just have the superior pace to hold these off.

Ombudsman 11/10

Incredibly hard to beat and is currently the best racehorse in the world. Won a weird renewal of this race last year where his pacemaker looked to have gotten away in front before powering home to win. Showed his sparkling best to win the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes in impressive fashion at Royal Ascot and has had a short break to leave him spot on for this. It’s going to be a tactical affair but he’s in a class of his own and can make it a 5th Group One here.

Valedictory 7/1

Looks ready for this step up in trip, having won over 14 furlongs at Newmarket and running respectably at Glorious Goodwood. Has his quirks and connections opt for a first time hood her, but he looks nicely handicapped off a mark of 95 and looks like he’ll find some improvement upped to 2 miles.
