Inothewayurthinkin Added to Gold Cup Picture

The connections of Inothewayurthinkin have made an intriguing decision, as the seven-year-old is set to be supplemented to the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Friday.

It has been reported by RacingTV that the JP McManus runner will be added to the field at the cost of £25,000 at the final supplementary stage on Friday.

The Gavin Cromwell-trained horse could be the second McManus representative in the field for the feature of the week, with Corbetts Cross likely to take his chance.

Inothewayurthinkin will be an intriguing runner in the Gold Cup next week. He already has proven staying form at Cheltenham after impressively winning the Kim Muir at the Festival in 2024. He then followed up with an impressive win Grade One company at Aintree when beating Iroko by four lengths in the G1 Mildmay Novices' Chase.

Plenty to Find With Galopin Des Champs

Despite impressing in novice chases last season, he is yet to reach the same heights in open company this term. He was disappointing in the G1 John Durkan on seasonal return, albeit over an inadequate trip.

That was followed by a fifth in the G1 Savills Chase, finishing 15 lengths behind Galopin Des Champs. Inothewayurthinkin was then fourth of ten and seven lengths behind the same runner in the G1 Irish Gold Cup at the Dublin Racing Festival.

However, Frank Berry admitted that a run in the Gold Cup is likely, provided 'there’s soft in the ground'. This would add a whole new dynamic to the race, as at seven, Inothewayurthinkin's best days are ahead of him.

Grand National Bid After Gold Cup

A run in the Cheltenham Gold Cup won't mark the end of Inothewayurthinkin's season, as he is also on course for the Grand National next month.

The McManus runner is among the current market leaders, and looks extremely well-handicapped on the strength of his form in the Irish Gold Cup last month.

However, only Golden Miller has landed both the Gold Cup and Grand National in the same season.
