Who To Follow At Newmarket On Friday - 09/07/21

The feature race of the day on Friday is the Group One Falmouth Stakes and the consistent Mother Earth can get back to winning ways.

Mother Earth has been one of the stars of the mile fillies division this term running superbly in two Group One events and off the back of those she is the worthy favourite for this event.

The filly was a fair juvenile landing a Group Three event on her third start, and then towards the end of last season finishing second at the Breeders' Cup meeting in a Group One and also finishing a good third in the Group One Fillies' Mile.

The yard did not know what to expect for the daughter of Zoffany but on seasonal debut this term she managed to land the 1000 Guineas in taking style.

Off the back of that she was sent to France looking to land the 1000 Guineas double, but she could only finish second, giving another good account of herself.

Last time out the filly was seen finishing a close third behind Alcohol Free and Snow Lantern and will need to reverse the form but getting nicer ground could be the key.

John & Thady Gosden for a second day are the trainers to follow on Friday having some superb chances across the day, starting in the first race of the day Altraif.

Others that the eye for the joint partnership are Peter The Great in the bet365 Handicap, Amtiyaz in the bet365 Handicap and Cheveley Park pairing Existent and Indie Angel.

The Gosden's have been in fine form of late landing nine winners from his last 27 runners which sees him pose a 33.33% strike rate for the last two weeks.

The jockey to follow on Friday is the talented James Doyle who has managed to pick up a good book of rides, throughout the card.

The Doylers best chance of the day looks to be the Charlie Appleby trained Global Storm who was unlucky at Ascot and is only 2lb higher.

Another nice chance for the rider is Operatic for Simon and Ed Crisford with the youngster weighted to go close in the final race of the day.
