Who To Follow At Kempton On Sunday - 27/12/20

Horse To Follow - Altior

Altior is the horse that everyone will be looking to see at Kempton and it would be a huge shock if he was to get beat in the Grade Two Desert Orchid Chase.

The 10-year-old has been a horse of a lifetime for his connections during his career being beaten just once over obstacles, landing a 19 race unbeaten run before that, that lasted from 2015 up until November 2019 where Cyrname got the better of him when he was stepped up in trip for the first time.

Henderson's stable star has seen off every horse possible in the two mile division winning at four consecutive Cheltenham festivals and overall having 10 Grade One wins to his name.

Having suffered a setback before the festival last term he was ruled out of the Champion Chase and having now put that behind him and undergone a racecourse gallop at Newbury he should be fit and ready for this event.

If anywhere near his best he will be tough to beat in this race which he won back in 2018.

Trainer To Follow - Nicky Henderson

Nicky Henderson is always a trainer to follow at Kempton, but we think he will have an especially good day on Sunday with some short priced fancies across the day.

In the Grade Two events he is set to field Shishkin who is looking to extend his unbeaten record over fences and in the Desert Orchid Chase Altior makes his return to the track.

Henderson has been in some smart form of late landing six winners from 28 runners over the last two weeks and that see him running at a 21.43% strike rate.

Jockey To Follow - Aidan Coleman

Aidan Coleman has a great book of rides across the Christmas period and on Sunday we think he is the man in the saddle to follow.

Coleman's best chance of the day looks to be Royale Pagaille in the Handicap Chase over three miles with the horse stepping in trip and heading into the race off the back of a smart win at Haydock.

The Irishman has been in a bit of form over the last two weeks running at a 16% strike rate having won three times out of his 19 rides and he will be looking to extend that on Sunday.
