TWE RIDE OF THE WEEK - WEEK TWO

A new segment we are starting here at The Winners Enclosure is every week to look back on the racing from the previous week and narrow it down to who deserves the best ride of the week from a horse and jockey perspective.

This week there were some seriously good performances over both the jumps and the flat and this week he major honours go to the jumps racing after what was one of the best pieces of horsemanship you will ever see.

Nico De Boinville is a very well know jumps jockey who is the number one rider for leading British trainer Nicky Henderson and it was that partnership that saw Diablo De Rouhet go on to win at Perth last week.

What TWE Ride Of The Week is all about is not just a horse that has gone on to blitz the field and is one to note for the future but we are also trying to incorporate rides that you are out of the ordinary.

De Boinville is known for riding some special horses throughout the season like Altior, Might Bite and so on, but in the national hunt off season it brings out the lesser events but this ride has proven the class of racing is very much of the highest standard from a jockeys point of view.

Diablo De Rouhet on Sunday at Perth in the Heineken Uk Handicap chase went on to win comfortably in the end but if it wasn't for the actions of the jockey he would never have finished the race.

De Boinville and one of the early fences gave one of the best recoveries at a fence ever seen in racing when looking like he was seconds from falling to the floor but he managed to recover and keep the horse on a even gallop.

At this point it still looked like Diablo De Rouhet may have to be pulled up and his race was done but the jockey got him back into the race and managed to get him home safely and fairly easily to win the contest.

You have to watch this performance as talking about it does not give it the justice it deserves and congratulations to Nico de Boinville and Diablo De Rouhet for winning TWE Ride Of The Week!
