The first race of the afternoon at the Curragh on Irish Derby day is the Listed Dash Stakes over 6f and Hermana Estrella is worth another go back at her preferred trip.

Only seen twice in her short career to date she made an emphatic debut over 6f on soft ground at Naas when seeing off the 2021 Queen Mary Stakes winner Quick Suzy by a length.

Given her first run this term when upped to a mile on three year old debut in the 1000 Guineas she needed the run, didn't handle the trip and only beat one home.

The Stack team have gone back to the drawing board and now back at 6f in a much easier race, she holds leading claims if kicking on from her sole juvenile run.

Another interesting runner from the Curragh on Saturday is the Johnny Murtagh trained who makes her handicap debut.

The three year old daughter of Caravaggio was seen five times as a juvenile without getting off the mark but did show good ability in her last two runs.

Returning over 7f at the Curragh this season she was a good fifth in a Fillies' Maiden behind the likes of Perfect Thunder and Toy who aren't bad horses.

She then improved for that run to finish second at Gowran Park, but when seen last time out she finally broke her duck at Fairyhouse on good ground when a very easy winner over 7f.

Making her handicap debut in this event off 85 with talented claimer Danny Sheehy taking a further 3lb off makes her interesting.

One of the feature events of the afternoon at Newcastle is the Group Three Chipchase stakes and the outsider of the field at 40/1 Annaf for Michael Appleby looks overlooked in the market.

A smart performer at the start of the year winning two of his three events, both of them at Newcastle and once of them over course and distance.

Looking to make it 3/3 at the track he finished a good fourth behind El Caballo, Tiber Flow and Space Cowboy at the all weather championships.

Moved back to turf at Newmarket he was below par in a good Class 2 Handicap off 96, but was much better at 7f at Goodwood after that when third behind the talented Find who franked the form at Royal Ascot in the Jersey Stakes when second.

Annaf was last seen back at 6f at York being consistent once more when a close up fifth of 19 in a Class 2 Handicap and if improving for the return to the all weather his price 40/1 is massive and he is drawn well.
