Superstar Enable To Stay In Training In Hope Of Third Arc

Breaking News that has just come out of the John Gosden yard is that his superstar filly Enable will stay in training for another season, with the main target of the season for her to make a third bid for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp in Paris.

The surprising news was released by Enable's owner Prince Khalid Abdullah's racing manager, Teddy Grimthorpe who laid out that there is no fixed plan in place for the filly but the Arc will be the main target of the year.

No horse in the history of the Group 1 in France has ever gone on to win it three times in a row. Enable became the first British horse to win back to back Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe's and will look to become the only horse to win three consecutively.

The four year old narrowly missed out on the Cartier Horse of the Year which would have been back to back titles but she did claim the Cartier Older Horse of the Year for who spirited come back from injury.

The preparation for her Arc defence was less than what John Gosden would have hoped for with his horse with her only run before the Group 1 victory coming in the Group 3 September Stakes at Kempton on the all weather where she blew the field away.

This was her first run back after 11 months off the track and for her, off the back of that to go on and win the Arc was remarkable. From there she went on to do the unthinkable and be the first horse to win that race and then go on and take the Breeders Cup Turf at Churchill Downs in the same season.

Enable is now unbeaten in her last nine starts with a total of seven Group 1 wins stretching back to April 2017. She is the current market leader for the 2019 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at 9/2 with her close rival in this years renewal Sea Of Class at 6/1.
