Pinnacle Stakes Guide

1. Highgarden

T - John Gosden

J - Frankie Dettori

Busy three-year-old campaign that ended with a Group Three win at Newmarket, which she now carries a penalty for.

Regular in this sort of company nowadays and open to further improvement as a four-year-old.

Last appearance on this surface merited a win on debut at Newbury.

2. Dance Legend

T - Rae Guest

J - David Probert

This daughter of Camelot is another with a smile on her face with the recent rain arriving over Haydock, but does have a disadvantage with class in this line-up.

Victorious on soft ground at Lingfield latest over two subsequent winners - Charles Kingsley who has prevailed at Hamilton and at Brighton recently, whilst the third Oi The Clubb Oi's looked smart at Nottingham last Sunday.

Should be considered on that basis, but previous Class One history is daunting.

3. Jedhi

T - Hughie Morrison

J - Graham Lee

Hughie Morrison will be looking to bounce back to the frame with Jedhi, who is currently profiled as one of the outsiders.

However, she won here off a mark of 79 with plenty in hand amongst Class Four handicap company and definitely deserves this climb to Class One company.

Traditionally held up, expect her to be late on the scene and to capitalise on any weary rivals.

4. Jet Streaming

T - Samuel Farrell

J - Trevor Whelan

Refusing to race at York in this company would represent a big concern arriving here, and probably best to watch her on that basis.

Was a close fifth in a Group Three over 1m4f at Newmarket in 2017, but has been unable to recapture that form since.

Draw a line through.

5. Klassique

T - William Haggas

J - Daniel Tudhope

This consistent sort is a Group Three and Listed runner-up from last couple of starts, and yet to finish outside the top two in the field excluding her debut last June at Newbury.

This four-year-old is lightly raced and could still have plenty of more to come for owner Yvonne Jacques.

First appearance at Haydock; trainer and jockey in very good form of late together and separately.

6. Magnolia Springs

T - Eve Johnson Houghton

J - Jim Crowley

Won a Listed contest at Goodwood last May, but has not really improved for that since.

An abundance of poor efforts in England, Ireland and in France; the latter two sent off at ridiculous prices.

Hard to really fancy in this.

7. Mrs Sippy

T - David Simcock

J - Jamie Spencer

Big form player based on last season's best efforts, but her return at York did not really suggest the break did her any good.

Last of six behind Lah Ti Dar and a long way behind of the front duo, she did win a nice race at Longchamp last term, and a repeat of that effort would see her go close.

Handy draw, but lots of work to do.

8. Pilaster

T - Roger Varian

J - David Egan

Needs to end a recent trend of fading away from her best form, and it seems a long time ago now that she got her head in front.

In big need of a confidence booster as yet to his return to same style as winning a Group Two at Goodwood in August.

Also struck at Kempton and Chelmsford in earlier days, and does have a sprinkle of class about her.

Slow ground could be the issue this time.

9. True Self

T - Willie Mullins

J - Colin Keane

Clear favourite, this six-year-old mare is unbeaten in her last four appearances on the flat after failing to make her name as a hurdler.

Returning to the scene with victory at Gowran last month, she proved her class at both Bath and Newmarket last term with short odds-victories at Class One level, and should be well on her way to another victory here.

Top class candidate.
