Morgiana Hurdle Runner by Runner

1. Faugheen

Trainer - Willie Mullins

The 2015 Champion Hurdle winner Faugheen, looks to have turned over a new leaf, having won the Champion Stayers Hurdle at Punchestown in April.

He won it in stunning fashion as well, dismissing stable companion Penhill - who won the English equivalent at Cheltenham a month earlier, by nearly fifteen lengths.

Mullins undecided by going chasing or remaining over hurdles at a longer distance, and this will be a key indicator.

Has been smashed up in the early ante post betting.

3. Samcro

Trainer - Gordon Elliott

Many calling this 6yo the second coming of Jesus, but he did not perform any miracles on his first start back from a summer break, when being beaten at Down Royal by Bedrock.

That was the first time he has been beaten when standing up to his fences, and maybe it is not so easy after all.

However, he cannot be dismissed like that, and ranaway with the Ballymore at Cheltenham in March, and the avenue towards the Champion Hurdle still beckons.

4. Sharjah

Trainer - Willie Mullins

Sharjah - who was third in the WKD Hurdle (Samcro 2nd), probably arrives here as the fittest competitor.

However, last season's supreme ninth has a lot of ground to make up on much better rivals, and may be slightly out of his depth.

On the other hand - a horse that progresses significantly from this stable never comes as a surprise.

5. Supasundae

Trainer - Jessica Harrington

Has ran with much credit over such a long period of time. Won the Punchestown Champion Hurdle back in April on most recent outing, although many would say the race was awarded to him when Melon and Samcro crashed out.

Be interesting to see where he ranks should all his rival stand up, but so consistent and always ends up running into a place. Strong contender, and cannot be ignored by not being trained by Ireland's top two.

6. Tombstone

Trainer - Gordon Elliott

Tombstone won at Limerick this time last month on his second run back from a summer break.

Great horse on his day, but another who is up against here it in this classy field.

Two time hurdle winner, and was fourth in that memorable Supreme Novice a few years ago - arguably the best bit of form in recent years; Altior 1st, Min 2nd, Buveur D'Air 3rd.

7. Wicklow Brave

Trainer - Willie Mullins

Completed a hat-trick of wins over the summer - all at short prices; with two runs on the flat.

However, he was disappointing in a Grade 3 at Tipperary on October 7th, beaten five lengths by Bedrock, who has since beaten Samcro and Sharjah - two of today's rivals.

Has much to find and needs to reproduce one of his career bests from some time ago.
