Charlie Appleby sends two to the Group Two Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday in the form of Global Storm and Adayar. The latter arrives at Newmarket having won the Group Three Gordon Richards Stakes here a couple of months ago before finishing third in the Group One Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot last month, behind Luxembourg and Mostahdaf.

The Frankel horse has won some top contests in his career so far, including the King George and the Epsom Derby, both in 2021, so if returning to the form we know Adayar has in the locker, he could go extremely close here and looks the one to beat.

Charlie Appleby has two in the Group Two Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday with Adayar and Global Storm. The latter arrives here on the back of finishing second here a couple of months ago in the Group Two Jockey Club Stakes, behind stablemate Hurricane Lane. Prior to that, he was 13th in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan after winning the Dubai City Of Gold in March at the same course. He has produced some top performances since making his debut in 2019, including a minor race here a while back but his best form is in the past.

Looks slightly up against it against these rivals and William Buick prefers Adayar, so James Doyle will do the steering.

John and Thady Gosden boast one runner in this group two event at Newmarket in the form of Israr. The four-year-old progressed well in handicaps last term, winning winning at Newbury and Doncaster (twice) before being tried in better company in 2023. The colt finished a short head behind Haskoy in the Group Three Al Rayyan Stakes at Newbury in May, coming second before another runner-up finish in the Listed Grand Cup Stakes at York last month, just over a length behind Quickthorn.

The four-year-old looks like the most likely rival to Adayar here and looks likely to continue his improvement and run a big race. Jim Crowley is booked to ride.

Charlie Fellowes has one in the Group Two Princess Of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday in the form of Grand Alliance. The four-year--old arrives here on the back of a disappointing run of form, despite winning the Group Three Surprise Stakes at Newbury a couple of runs ago in April. The gelding has failed to finish in the top three on five occasions since making his debut in 2021 and despite finishing third in the Group Three St Simon Stakes at the same course in October last year, failed to show anything in the Hardwicke (G2) at Royal Ascot last month and this looks tough once again.

Not completely ruled out but would be an unlikely winner. Ryan Moore will do the steering.
