Emmett Mullins-trained Feronily will be a leading contender in the Grade Two this weekend. The six-year-old returned to action at the start of last month, finishing second of three on testing ground behind My Design in the Mongey Communications Chase.

He was impressive over three miles throughout last season, which included a success over Appreciate It in the G1 Dooley Insurance Group Champion Novice Chase. That could be the key piece of form to consider this weekend, and it may be hard to overlook the six-year-old if he is back at that level of form.

He drops back in trip this weekend, but that shouldn’t be an issue after winning over two miles and three over hurdles at Limerick in March. Donagh Meyler takes the ride on the runner this weekend.

Visionarian is a runner for Peter Fahey this weekend. The eight-year-old has won on four of his nine career chase starts under rules, which includes an impressive display over two miles and four at Listowel on his previous outing in September.

The gelding has been kept fit throughout the summer, as he also bested Effenock Fizz in the BoyleSports Chase in August. As well as that, he also finished fifth of 22 when over eleven lengths behind Ash Tree Meadow in the G3 Galway Plate. Visionarian has been consistent over fences throughout his career, winning on four from nine starts. He has finished outside of the top three on just two occasions.

He could have a part to play this weekend, and his recent fitness edge could give him an advantage over some of his rivals. However, he has something to find on the ratings, and he could be vulnerable giving weight to a winning returning rival.

Ash Tree Meadow is a runner for Gordon Elliott this weekend. The seven-year-old was in excellent form at the start of August, landing the G3 Galway Plate by over two lengths from Authorized Art. That was considerably a career-best showing by the runner, and improved his record over fences to four wins from eight starts.

However, he is back up in grade for the first time since finishing fourth of seven in the G2 Novice Hurdle at Fairyhouse in April 2022. Jack Kennedy jumps back on board this weekend, and he could be primed to land a big win.

This sharper distance isn’t likely to be an issue, as he was beaten by a neck over two miles and four at Punchestown, and was also a close second behind Straw Fan Jack at Cheltenham in a Novice Chase in late October 2022. This kind of test suits him very well and he looks to be the one to beat on ratings.
