Prengarde

New purchase for JP McManus and the Cross Country favourite for the Cheltenham festival, Prengarde for trainer Enda Bolger is facing a race against time to give his horse a run before the Cheltenham festival.

Winning five of his last six events, last time out in emphatic style at Compeigne, he was bought by the master JP McManus and given to leading Cross Country trainer Enda Bolger ahead of running him at the festival.

Bolger has stated there is now way he could go to Cheltenham having not had a run before so and now with just 30 days until the race, he is running out of time for favourite backers.

(Credit ATR) “He’s good, but we’re only just learning and getting to know him,” said Bolger.“

We’re trying to think of somewhere where we can get a race into him as he hasn’t run since November.“

He’s only six as well and whether he gets there (Cheltenham) or not, I don’t know at the moment. We’re taking it day by day, but we have two good subs anyway (Shady Operator and Midnight Maestro).”

Mentioning if Prengarde could go straight to Cheltenham, he added: “No, definitely not, he’d get too tired.“

He was only five when he had everything done in France, we don’t have to teach him to jump or anything as he’s very professional about that.

“We’ll see what’s going to happen in the next 10 days or so.”
