Thursday ITV Racing Preview

Thursday ITV Racing Preview

Thursday brings a special ITV broadcast of racing with it being the start of Newmarket’s July Festival. There will also be broadcasts on Friday and Saturday so no one has to miss out on any of the racing.

On ITV 3 for a change they are showing four races from Newmarket starting at 1:50. Over the three days ITV are set to set to show 20 live races which is something that normally happens when it is around the Cheltenham festival and Grand National meetings.

Newmarket 1:50 – First Eleven 3/1 Win

The first race of the three day meeting is the Bahrain Trophy Stakes over 1 mile 5 furlongs. This Group 3 over the years has been won by some fantastic horses and is seen as a stepping stone for horses to move up to better Group races.

The John Gosden trained First Eleven is the pick of the field and can really show his potential for a yard that have done really well in this race previously .

A lightly raced horse that on his three starts this year has figures of 213 placing in all of them. Last time out at Royal Ascot he finished a credible third in the Class 2 King George V stakes where he was badly hampered and very unlucky not to go and win it. He can put that right on Thursday.

Newmarket 2:25 – Legends Of War 3/1 Win

Another Group race on the Thursday and the second race of the meeting is the Arqana July Stakes for Colts and Geldings over 6 furlongs. This race will see some of the best two year old sprinters go head to head with some of them looking to overturn there last meeting.

A Horse who looks interesting is the John Gosden trained Legends Of War. This horse out of Scat Daddy was bought at auction for £900,000 and has showed real potential on his only start.

The two year old won on his first ever race at Yarmouth in a Class 3 and looked very impressive. He has the pedigree to be one the best sprinters of his generation and this Group 2 can be a stepping stone for that.

Royal blue (Godolphin)

Newmarket 3:00 – Tribal Quest 7/1 Win

The Third race of the broadcast is the bet365 Handicap over 6 furlongs. This class 2 will see a big field go to post with alot of these runners relishing having company when running.

The horse that won’t be far away if running to its potential is the Godolphin owned Tribal Quest. Only having two runs this season he has won both of them in good style, last time out at Newmarket beating a field of 11 runners and some of them were good prospects.

The Charlie Appleby trained three year old is a bright entry for his owners and can really stake his claim as he lightly raced this season. The sprinting sphere could be shaken up if he goes go close on Thursday.

Newmarket 3:35 – Barsanti 7/2 Win

The final Group race on the Thursday is the Princess Of Wales’s Arqana Racing Club Stakes over 1 mile 4 furlongs. This race has previously been a race for horses that have tried it at Group 1 level and have been outclassed and this is the same this year.

The best horse in the race from form this year is the Roger Varian trained Barsanti. His two runs this year have been mixed with winning his first one nicely against the favourite Mirage Dancer but latest when stepped up to Group 2 company he was disappointing .

This Group 2 can see this horse get back to his best in an easier field of runners to what he has previously been up against and if producing anything like his form from last year in Group 1s he will be hard to beat.
