All over the world there is are racing meetings that everyone looks forward to seeing the best horses on show. Group 1’s in the flat season provide this and in England alone there are 36 throughout the season.

Spread across nine different racecourses from April to October the flat season is something to really look forward with new horses coming out to play and older horses looking to retain their title or cause an upset.

Everyone who enjoys racing will have there favourite Group 1 race and this can be down to a number of factors. People enjoy going to race meetings because of the course and the atmosphere this then sways peoples views on picking there favourite race just because they enjoy the Racecourse it is held at.

Another reason is the standard of racing and horses in the race. Some people have a favourite horse and follow that horse so if they then go on to win a Group 1 or put in a memorable performance people will always look out for that race.

Festivals can also be a decider for people on what is there favourite race. With different people from around the country travelling to go to big festivals, some of them don’t go for the booze and atmosphere, some people go because at that certain festival there is a certain race they love to watch every year.

The final reason will be the type of race a person prefers with all these group 1s being spread out over different distances with 6 furlong sprint races to middle distance 1 mile4 furlong races. Whatever style of race you will prefer will influence you into picking which race is your favourite.
