Who To Follow At The Curragh On Saturday - 17/07/21

Horse To Follow - Measure Of Magic

In the Group Two Sapphire Stakes over five furlongs we like the look of the Johnny Murtagh trained Measure Of Magic, who might just have some of the stand out form on offer.

The three year old filly heads into this event getting weight off the majority of the field, but she also has the secret weapon of being versatile on both quick and slow ground.

The daughter of Kodi Bear has been a superb sprinter for the yard over the last year or so, being highly consistent as a juvenile and carrying that on into this term.

She made her seasonal debut at Navan in April over 6f and in a good Listed event she managed to see off the likes of Logo Hunter and Lipizzaner, who she could take on again.

The filly made it back to back wins at Cork next time out taking out a superb Listed event and then last time having been stepped up to Group One company she as a bold third on heavy ground in the Group One Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.

Her first two wins this season came on good and her latest smart third came on heavy, so whatever the surface she looks a big contender dropping back into this Group Two

Trainer To Follow - Aidan O'Brien

Although an obvious choice the master of Ballydoyle Aidan O'Brien could have a runner in nearly every race on Saturday and seems to have a superb chance of landing numerous winners.

O'Brien in the first race of the day could field a number of runners on debut that have big chances, but one of his big chances on the day is Cadamosto dropping back in grade for the Group Three Anglesey Stakes.

In the feature Irish Oaks he is set to field most of the runners in the event, with his Epsom Oaks winner Snowfall looking extremely tough to beat.

The handler over the last few weeks has been in smart form running at a strike rate of 21% having had eight winners from his 38 runners.

Jockey To Follow - Ben Coen

Johnny Murtagh's retained rider Ben Coen looks to have a nice book of rides on Saturday at The Curragh and for that reason he is our jockey to follow.

In the first race of the day he sits on the newcomer Eighty Eight who looks to be a nice type that if taking to the track on his first experience could be smart.

Other big chances for the rider on the day include Measure Of Magic in the Group Two Sapphire Stakes after her superb third in the Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot.
