Four Horses To Take Out Of The 2022 Ebor Meeting

Time Lock

One of the most unlucky losers at the meeting was the Harry & Roger Charlton trained Time Lock who looked sure to land the Listed Sir Henry Galtres Stakes but was chinned by Haskoy for the same owners.

The three year old daughter of Frankel has shown some superb form to date and being an unlucky loser twice now she is bound to have a big race in her.

Needing her seasonal debut when only beating one home in a race dominated by Emily Upjohn, she then to Newmarket up to 1m4f and got off the mark in Emphatic style seeing off the likeable Atlantis.

Sent into another Novice Stakes this time harbouring a penalty she only went down by a neck to Mimikyu for John & Thady Gosden giving away weight.

Her York run showed big progression again having her first run at Listed level and it would be a surprise to see her not step forward again next time out.

Shouldvebeenaring

Shouldvebeenaring was extremely well backed ahead of the Premier Yearling Stakes with Richard Hannon having a superb record in the race and he got the job done in the final few strides but that was not the whole story.

Having shown a nice turn of foot at Ripon on his second start, Hannon had this race at York planned for a while and like the trainer has done in the past in this event he got it spot on.

What makes the two year old fairly special and one to keep onside with going forward is all the trouble he hit in the race and then when getting a clear passage, the ground he made up was superb.

He will be a horse to go into better races in the future and looks to have a lot more up his sleeve.

Soulcombe

One of the easiest winners of the week was the William Haggas trained Soulcombe who was backed heavily before the race and showed just how much he had up his sleeve with the handicapper.

Off the back of his third to Secret State at Glorious Goodwood, only going up to a mark of 83 made him an excellent bet and he showed that by scoring by close to five lengths.

He looked a horse to us that could run off a mark in the high 90s or low 100s and if not given a bad time by the handicapper could still have more to offer.

Very big talent.

Noble Style

Finally, a very impressive winner at the Ebor meeting was Noble Style for Charlie Appleby and Godolphin with the two year old looking to best in the 6f division and he could even go slightly further next time out.

The 525,000gns son of Kingman was a very smart winner at Ascot on debut in May over 5f when beating the likes of Walbank and Royal Scotsman.

Seen once more since then at the back end of July at Newmarket he got the job done late on when beating Mill Stream by half a lengths, giving a lot of weight away to the rest of the field.

Improving massively he showed a superb turn of foot to catch Marshman and it looks very difficult for any of those horse to reverse the form when meeting again.

A superb horse for big future sprint events.
