How We Landed A 180/1 Place Acca

What a day Boxing Day turned out to be for our Place Acca and this is how we did it…

After a strong day of results including decent profit and our 31/1 win treble landing, our boxing day was turning out to be one of our best, especially considering we’d done tips from no less than 11 meetings. The place acca was also looking good, three out of four had actually won their races not just placed then it was all down to the last leg, Generous Day in the 15:25 at Market Rasen. He’d been at the top of the market along with a few other horses for most of the day but as race time neared, he was backed in to become clear favourite. All we needed was him to finish top three but as three of the four horses in the place acca had done previous to him, he got the win to land our biggest ever place acca! Below we will talk you through how we came about picking the selections in it and just exactly what a place acca is…

A fairly consistent handicap chaser, he went on a run of three wins from four races in the summer. After a break and two fairly poor runs, the handicapper took weight away from him for this race and he ran an absolute beauty to stay on and win by two lengths.

An experienced horse, prior to this race he’d placed in six of his last eight races winning winning three of those along the way. He was dropped back down in class for this race from his last run where he finished third and off the same mark, he just about got his nose in front on the line to keep up his impressive run of form.

Similar to Dica, this 7-y-o gelding has been in the form of his life. He stepped up to Grade company for this race and had 8lbs extra on his back however a drop down in trip looked to suit him more from his win last time out. True to his form, he JUST managed to stay on for third despite looking more than likely to win the race 50 yards out.

Pearl Royale

Sent off 6/1 third favourite behind a 6/4 and 7/4 in a race that was placing just two, Pearl Royale looked set to be the most difficult leg of this acca but it turned out to be the easiest. He broke his maiden under rules over hurdles in March this year winning by 50 lengths and after a big break, he was making his chase debut. His trainer Nigel Hawke is no mug and we took a big punt on this won and it paid off. He galloped away to claim an impressive 11 length victory and claim his place in our tracker!

Generous Day

Now for the final leg and by far the most nerve wracking. After a poor season last season with no wins from six races, Henry Oliver’s Generous Day has excelled this season placing in all three of his runs prior to this race winning one of them. Up just 4lbs from his maiden win for this race and up in trip, he looked to be in with a great chance of at least a place especially at 13/8 and place he did and win he did to send us and most of our followers into an absolute frenzy!!

Not done a place acca before and not sure how it works? We will explain. It’s similar to an each way bet but when you put an e/w bet on our do 2x the stake, place acca is a separate market just for the horse to place. Finishing first is no different to finishing in the places. If it is a seven runner race or less, the horse would need to finish 1st or 2nd. 8 runner race or more then 1st, 2nd or 3rd then 16 runner race usually 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Why do we do it with SkyBet? SkyBet frequently offer more places for certain races. So for example it could be a seven runner race but SkyBet are offering three places on it.
