Jockeys go head-to-head in charity boxing match

Simon Pearce & William Carson battle it out in fundraiser!

William Carson came out victorious by defeating fellow top jockey Simon Pearce in a Charity Boxing match on Saturday night. Newmarket night-club ‘Innocence’ held a crowd of around 300 for the event in-aid of Freddy Tylicki, who is sadly paralysed following an un-savoury incident at Kempton Park Racecourse back in November.

Other well-known jockeys such as: Kieren Fallon, Hayley Turner, Rab Havlin, Jamie Spencer, Andrea Atzeni, Liam Jones and Stevie Donohoe were in attendance, raising more than £2,000 in total. ??

One to remember – Freddy won the Group One Prix de L’Opera aboard Speedy Boarding ??

The winner of the 3-round bout quoted: “I knew I’d be the quickest in the early stages but I was knackered at the end of round two. Fair play to Simon, he gave it a good go, and it’s great we can raise this money for Freddy and he could be here to see it. I would also like to thank Eddie Guest for organising such a great event.”

Pearce, who found himself on the wrong end of the decision added: “I just froze out there under the lights and never moved like I had done in sparring. Fair play to William, he won every round.”
